Gents - I am at work at the moment as I work away in the mines - therefore I use the work server to access this web site. Would you believe I cant access the replies to my previous question about Vintage Iron tank ????? because the server doesn't like the word ????.
Could somebody please tell me what came up and yes DJRacing I would love to see your scraper idea as the tank is pretty good but being plastic the previous paint job has lifted.
Guys - sorry for this and thanks for any help.
regards

Hi Rossco, The blade I use is flexible and I dont use the sharp edge. I drag it towards me most of the time. The tank in the picture is a YZ125G tank and it has the usual yellow staining and is generally grubby all over. The to white patches I have just scraped with the blade and it is coming up clean and white.

I just tried this myself, it works a treat.
The other thing I have found also works, is, empty the tank, remove brackets, petcap and petcock. Soak the whole tank in the laundry tub for 24 hrs (Napisan). Brush off any loose dirt spots, whilst in the liquor. Drain tub, rinse off any residue. Repeat once (or more if necessary).
If you want to put a couple of tablespoons of liquid bleach for good measure, then that is up to your disgretion.
This worked for me for the last 2 years.
The staining and discolouring comes back.
Soon I will look at a replica tank to match the rest of the plastics on the bike (NOS).
