The time has come to 'out' myself......
Yes I am afraid that I have committed a crime nearly as heinous as that fashion crime committed by Sir Bradalot at CD,7 upon his two sizes too small CZ shirt.....
Yes I am afraid I have purchased a Honda!
No it is not an April Fool.
I have acquired a 1980 CR250RA red,cough, cough, choke devil.
Now before all and sundry come out swinging,it needs to be said that this has only happenned due to a pact I made at Magoos wake with a good mate.In between my off road safaris ( in joke),I promised my comrade that I would buy a Honda and race it as my personal ongoing memorial to my mate Magoo.
This day has come.
The bike is currently residing in the US and will probably land back here August. It is a resto project which does run,but I will need some bits and bobs to restore it i.e. a seat and probably shocks, along with numerous parts I guess,so if any of the red army have any bits lying around please give me a shout,I will pay for them.
Anyway I shall now retreat and await the deserved abuse.
Cheers Honzuki43

well done brother, a very noble & fitting gesture indeed to a top bloke.
-
Shit.....lightening just struck my garden shed. :o Wonders will never cease.
Cool reason for buying it though Craig. ;D
PS....are you and the bloke that looks a bit like you joining us for the GP at Broadford?
-
Firko,if you guys are going I will be there!
-
bugger - here I was all ready to rant and rave and cast much abuse (all deserved of course) but how can you attack a man (even one such as your self Craigy) for such an idea :'(

Oh one other thing I forgot to mention. The CR will be the bike for my Ocker mates to ride when they come and visit :-*Oh and I guess I now own an 'old shitter' (twin shocker) even though I am far too young to remember them at age 30 (plus ten years experience). (http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/ad137/mongos1/PICT0005.jpg)
-
Just when you couldn't stoop any lower. You come back and totally redeem yourself.
Our mate would be proud.
Too bad you have de-valued all Honda's! :-*
Honda's are like Pringle's. You can't just stop at one. It's a quality thing.
Oh, and your number plate is upside down (numbers) ( must be the most used race number. Wonder why.....)
-
Thanks Sir Bradalot,I guess like that old Rob Muldoon comment, the IQ's of both camps (Team Suzuki and Honda) has increased with this move.
-
Shame, shame, shame..... The forum will be a far less funny place now that your Honda bashing days are over.
If its anywhere as good (for its vintage) as my 83 CR250 is, you will be one happy camper.
Best you post up a photo of you in your mugen shirt from China to close this one out!
-
Yes indeed Scunge,it appears I am now a Honda joke!
-
You two are now red peas in a pod!
-
funny you mention that Brad - Craig - my RMZ when bought back from the realms of many years trailbike riding had the same number ::)
-
I also must admit to straying from the fold and have my RM for sale, as I have gone European (KTM). I have arranged counselling sessions with She who will be obeyed but she doth mock me and I now feel besmirched. But one must lift ones head and face the breeze!! ah tough life
-
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?
Hang your heads in shame :P
-
You could always paint it yellow to ease the pain…
-
Good on you Craig for honoring your promise to the big fella.
Looks like it neets a bit of TLC.
Shane
-
Don't bullshit us, you got Honda fever hanging about in the Mikes garage and had to have one for yourself.
-
Damn it i was going to have a go at him about corroded water pump covers and cases ....but its air cooled :-\
The rear shocks....you can't reb...actually you can rebuild them. ::)
Red clothing doesn't go with anything except the gay mardi gra :P
-
Jeff Paint it yellow??? hmm not a bad idea
Yes Mr Frodo it will need a total resto but hey not surprising given its a Honda -oops note to self no more bagging Hondas-(old habits die hard).
Marc you may be right,we defintely need to talk turkey on some of your goodies.....
-
How flash do you want it mate, I probably have a set of plastics, seat and some other shit for you if you are not going all NOS on me.
-
Gday Mr Asia,
no mate definitely not a nos resto, having once owned a 79 RZ I know about the shortage/cost of nos Honda plastic. This beast is going to be a race bike not a coffee table job.I was eyeing up your red steads this afternoon at the Pukekohe workshop-very nice!
-
.I was eyeing up your red steads this afternoon at the Pukekohe workshop-very nice!
Cheers mate, Mike has most of my RZ bits so have a sniff about. You can have your Fox Shox back if you need them.... only $900 because you are a mate ;D
-
Mate!!!!!!
-
You could always connect the (very loose) dots that say as DeCoster was with Honda at this stage of the game having joined Honda in 1980 and racing for them this year only; its only due to that connection that you have made the decision (purely for R&D reasons only) to turn red. Its plausible - but an excuse that would / may be acceptable to your fellow brothers at Suzuki.

-
Indeed what brother 211 said!
Cheers Dave.
-
Wow this is getting freaky,I hit Legend status on the last post... ;D ;D
-
Dave that sounds like a reasonable excuse for Craig i continue to be impressed with your ideas the best one being when we put the Vodka (kiwi brand) in to the margareetas at C/d .Damn they were a good drop in the Klub kevlar blender.
-
after that very loose attempt in getting Craig out of the shite one has to wonder whether Dave is checking out the Vodka currently ;D
-
Speaking of vodka, how are my kids CMD?
-
ugly as ever bro ;D
-
suzuki 43 and many of his mates - please put me right if i am wrong but i can rememder a bruce mc farland riding a suzuki!
a gsx 1100 forgotten era in the nsw post classic assocaition rounds.
ok it`s out in the open is this the same magoo?
-
oh ye of short memories ::) it was only last year on Saturday April 4th at precisely 03:49:37 PM that Bruce openly declared his yellow affection with the following post...which incidently should relieve a little of the guilt trip some are or may have been experiencing ;D
Dear Suzukis 27 & 43, Doc, TM Bill and Holeshot Biddy, I've news that will bring a tear to your eyes. I'm the proud daddy to a bouncing baby RM370A. I never thought I'd say it, but I'm in love. It has no tank, seat, front end or wheels but the rest seems great. I'm definately going to build a resto - racer out of it. How hard are parts to come by for the old girl. Is there really a life beyond the red mist I've been blinded by all these years, or am I destined to a life of yellow disappointment?
Amen
-
ok we have to clear up one thing.riding/owning or owning a suzuki as suzuki 43 said the honda is for his ocker mates this means he owns it but will not ride it or is this just a cover up.
-
There isn't a rule you can only own one make I have atleast one of each suzuki yamaha honda kawaski. ::)
-
Hey Micks,Nah mate I am going to give the Honda a good old rogering on the track, bikes are meant to be ridden.

Here's Bruce on the mighty 125T at Dargle back in about 2001. This is the bike he won the HEAVEN 125 EVO class on before being blinded by red mist. :)
Cheers

Your right STiG, he brought that little 125 from me in 02 or maybe 03. I raced it
at the first round and then Bruce brought it. That was the year there was a stink
over the points with Skinny and Bruce for the 125 class.
-
Here's further proof that Magoo did sometimes return to the real world. Here he is at Nepean with Tony Young, obviously proud of his groovy Husky jersey. The second photo sees him about to go onto the track at the 07 Vintage Dirt Track Nats on Husky Pete's CR400

STIG its funny but the year before Dargle race I was there with my CR250Z and Magoo had his RM (and a CR),but its fair to say he developed a real illness for CR's....
-
Nah he only had the 125 for about 6 months and it was a N model.
But none of that is neither here nor there........
