The HEAVEN (NSW) Club will be holding Round 5 of their 2007 series at Canberra's Fairbairn track over the weekend of 22/23 September. The ACT track is at the best it's ever been and the HEAVEN events always boast a big rollup, so come along and enjoy a weekend of the best VMX racing around.

Not long now until the Canberra round. Once again family commitments kept me from the CRC, but as far as I can see I'll be free for the whole weekend this time. AND... with luck I can debut the TM or RM 125. That should be interesting. Fingers crossed for great weather too, I'm getting sick of riding in the cold...
-
Any changes to the track from earlier this year ?
-
Yes mate we Have ship in 200m2 of Loam .
Made the first 4 berms all about 6Ft hight and the inside is Loam .
3 to 4 lines .
Open up the Back strait now faster.
Change the Stutters 3 in a row small t top and a 2 in a row .
Now if you all do not want to do the Stutters Start let Heaven know .
Then I / Heaven than can do something be for the Event.
Now ACT.M.C.C Dose have two showers at the MX track and two more at the DT track .
By the way it is Now Open and will have Rec Day Every Sunday
I do Think that Camping is OK But you need to Find OUT from The Heaven End of things as Heaven Run the two days Meeting
Not ACT.M.C.C
-
Thanks Dennis, I am generally not too excited about stutters, due to my severe lack of ability. Are they in the same spot as the 4 were earlier this year ?
-
Yes the Lay out is the still the same .
-
The whoops aren't too bad at all. They have been rounded off and can be just rolled or jumped. If you are good enough it looks easy to double-double-double. On the other hand, if you are like me you'll 1.5, single-single-double in a sort of sickening crashing way. But it doesn't get too ugly due to the low speed.
And Dennis is right, the rest of the track is superb. Last time I rode there, a month or so back for a rec day, it was just brilliant. I guess it would all flow better and be easier on the older bikes if the whoops were taken out, but for myself I'm easy either way.
And yep, the DT is open at long last! With a practice day each Sunday for the next few weeks. Not sure when the first one is tho. Is it this weekend Dennis? Book me in for a practice on the 2 September. Gotta get training for the DT Nats.
-
*Update* I have been told that the whoops/stutters will not be included in the track for the HEAVEN round. That means that there should be no difficult obstacles on the course at all. Most corners are quite flowing, the track surface is currently superb, and all the tabletops except the top couple are very smooth low angle take-off ramps. It should be a brilliant track for all vintage classes. Ya gotta be there!!!
-
Heaven should just leave the track design AS IS if they have used the stutters in the past which they HAVE and have had no probs/accidents on them. Why remove them from the track.
LEAVE THEM IN PLEASE.
-
Those stutters are no good for the old bikes running down pipes, last time I rode there, flattened out a new GMC pipe on the Maico, popped it out of the barrel, im happy enough to bypass em :)
-

They have changed significantly since the last HEAVEN round there. They got insane for a while - like most of the 250Fs couldn't do anything decent over them insane - and are now back to much more sane level, but still bigger/nastier than they used to be.
-
OK OK 2 weeks out to the Canberra round .
Yes we will be making the track easier .
So who is coming .
By the Fernando is Band form any camp fire party's . I cant handle the
sore head and the lack of sleep .
Going to bed a 4am and then getting up at 7am and then trying to ride all day .
I will be out to get a win back on my good Friend Darren Milton on his
Honda 125 Cr .
I had a Ball in the 125 race at CRC .
Also I will be trying to keep Snowy behind be as well.
I will start getting the track ready on sunday night after the rec ride that the ACT. mcc will be running on this sunday .
-
Ah well, of course all us Canberra boys will be there. I'm racing the Husky, but if I can get the 125s running I'll bring them out Saturday to try to run them in. Might even race one of them. As for that Gezza character, what is he doing??? He's sold the '83 CR and bought a later model one... I think that means he can't race HEAVEN anymore till they go Pre90. Guess he can just be my pitcrew...
-
I'm hoping to make it out there on the Sunday. Got a rallysprint on the Saturday.
Gotta get a bike or two running first... :-[
Hoping to bring the CT1 and, um... maybe the YZ125E? 250G? Everything else is in bits! Have wondered about sticking a stock 175 engine into the DT125 for the ultimate pre-75 250 weapon*
*May not actually be the ultimate. May not be a weapon at all.
-
Thanks to Nathan,
(who despite rumours to the contrary is a champion)
I'll be entering the EVO 125 fold to give chase to Dennis and Darren
Cheers
Noel

A few of us Newcastle boys will be making the trip, although the stiff competition is a bit scary ;D by the way, who was that unknown bloke who one the Ray Ryan memorial trophy at CRC, Dennis wasnt it Snowy, sure he'll remind a few of you when Saturday drinking session gets underway, might be the once and only braggin rights ever he gets :) :) :) :)
-
The Newcastle chaps are coming , now we just need some fast riders to make a day of it. :o :o :o :o
-
Thats what I was thinking, we would make the trip knowing the Canberra boys have been riding so fast they might just drag a few of us along in there slip stream :D, :-* Getting nervous already just thinkin about it ::) Seriously though, looking forward to another top weekend in Canberra, track sounds like it will be a bit quicker, not as many stutters, bit more VMX friendly, cant wait to ride no matter where we finish, some of the best and fun races have been at the other end of the field ;)
-
Good One Nole More Fun .

Hi Jimson,

What a great day! My yesterday was spent in the rally car, and it was a cracker. Even though things didn't work out race-wise, today made it one of my best weekends ever. Big thanks to everyone who made it happen!
Random points:
The track was about the best I've ever seen it. Got a bit dusty in the afternoon, but still good.
Fernando's son is going to embarass a lot of us when he becomes a senior.
Damien Crane embarasses a lot of us already.
My DT125 with the 175 top end and YZ carby is awesome. The air cleaner fell off in practice (thanks to Bill C for pointing this out to me). I didn't think it had swallowed much dirt, but in the first race it ran like a bucket of pooh. I pulled the plug out to discover that something had been floating around in there and had closed up the plug gap to 0.000001mm. Closer inspection revealed that there was also something (a rock?) jammed down in the plug too. Dennis loaned me a new plug (thanks Dennis) and it ran fine again (albeit low on compression). :)
Tom. It seems that the planets were finally algined and jimson and his son Tom made it to a HEAVEN round. Tom busted both shocks on the DT1 on Saturday but they both had big grins that evening. Tom's first ever race started well, but ended badly about 5 seconds later... After getting a respectable start, he clipped the back of our webmaster's RM and went down before the first corner. What should have been a 'nothing' fall got pretty ugly when the DT1 landed on him. As he said later, "Hitting the ground was fine - then the bike landed on me!"... He ended up more than just a little bit sore, but with no permenant damage. :-\ They're hoping to be back for Buladelah. :)
Graeme on the freshly finished RM was on fire. Even had the audacity to overtake Noel at one stage! :)
Thanks to Garry for offering me a ride on the DT1 after Tom put himself out of action. I even managed my first ever class win in the second pre-70 race. The naysayers might (should!) point out that there were only two of us in the class, but right now, my glass is half-full, thank you very much! :D Despite the bent bars (hi Tom), it's a really nice bike to ride - beautiful engine. Give Tom a bit more race experience, and I can see him giving Neville a very hard time on it. :)
My second race on the DT175 was going great. The best I've ever ridden, I reckon. Then 3/4 of the way through the last lap, it just stopped dead. ARGH! I later discovered that one of the ignition wires had come adrift, but only after I'd DNF'd. Dammit, I could still see Snowy on his Husky out there in front if me when I stopped (not that I was going to catch him, but he's usually out of sight halfway through the first lap...).
Yes, I'm sitting here with a beer in my hand, and a big grin on my dial. Recently, my enthusiasm for this sport has taken a bit of a battering at the hands of bitching and political infighting, but it's back now.
:)
Edit: Thanks also to Uncle Lozza from The 2-stroke Institute who pointed me in the right direction WRT tuning the 175's carby, over the phone. It wasn't fully sorted due to the very limited amount of fiddling I did and the even more limited testing opportunities, but it was a lot better than it had been. :)
-
Yep, I second that. What a great weekend. All the riding time you could want Saturday (the track was even better then, Nathan), and some fine racing Sunday. I had a ball on the RM125, tho sadly I think it broke a piston in the last race of the day. That'll teach me to use the old barrel on a new bottom end... I tried hard but could not quite match Noel. What really pisses me off about that is that I was riding as hard as I could, out of shape everywhere, revving the ring off the RM, and Noel is sitting there like he's off to church. Sigh... more practice needed.
Sadly I could not fire the big Husky at all, so no Evo rides. I think some investigation is warranted, it's been a pretty good starter in the past.
Everyone seemed to be going fine and having a ball and even though the fields were small the great racing made up for that.
I think Nathan may be right, in discussion later in the day I found out that Tom had clipped someone in the first race, and I recall someone hitting my rear wheel. I know in that particular start I tried a mid track line while everyone else went wide or tight, and I suspect that line was what you'd call effing bad. So, if it was me that caused that one Tom, my abject apologies. That really sucks, down and out in your first race. The only consolation I can offer is that my last 4 race meetings have involved me face-planting at least once, after years of largely trouble free racing.
So, a bottler of a weekend (mostly). Bring on the Evo Challenge and Clarence.
OH yeah, and huge thanks to everyone who put this one together, from Dennis and his never-ending trackwork to the HEAVEN team, great stuff guys and gals.
-
Best club meeting i've ever been to every one was keen to help each other out i mean less then a minute aftermycrash a bloke was lifting the bike of me(I would like to thank that individual very much cause at that point in time the exhaust was getting very hot and there was petrol leaking from somewhere so many thanks) but i enjoyed watching just as much as riding i learned alot(holeshot isn't always the most important thing) and i'll enjoy trying it again thanks to every one that made the weekend possible and hope to see every one at the EVO challenge ;)
-
my father and nathans Mrs (Anna) has managed 2 snap a couple of shots of the action so enjoy ;)

Second photo is remarkable for two reasons:
1. Noel getting the holeshot on his CR125;
2. Tom on top of the bike (rather than the other way 'round).
:P
Can anyone tell me where the first photo is??? It's got me stuffed.
-
Nathan ,
thats just near flag point 14#,
Noel
-
Right, gotchya... :D
Actually, if you look at the second photo, it's quite obvious - it's the old finish line table-top. The up-ramp doesn't look that flat, and the top doesn't look that angled when you're on the track!
-
Well I think every one had a lot of Fun on the week end .
A lot of laps where done on the week end .On Saturday the Riding did not stop allways a donzen or more where out on the track at any time
VMX MAN did not stop riding hes new Love (RM 125 b ?? )
and at the end of the day on sunday he had a Smile a Mile wide even after he told me he had Blown up the RM 125 (Piston ) ..
So Thats 5 out of 5 for VMX Heaven 5 Great rounds this year that VMX Heaven has put ON.
Bring On Round 6 Evo Challenge ..
-
Yep, was a pearler of a day, and as Dennis says I was rapt that my little RM went so well. Made up for not being able to start the 500 (3 people also tried - nope, nuffink).
Yes, the piston did let go, or at least that's what it felt like. However, I will get the shocks sorted, get the PD valve into the forks, and put my nice new barrel on it, and next year I will be back to have a serious go at this Pre 78 125 thing. Bring it on...
In the meantime, looking forward to Clarence!

We All had a ball, if you don't believe me.. cheek out this!
