Title: Intake spacers.
Post by: Nathan S on July 02, 2010, 08:33:49 pm
So... The KDX175 is coming together nicely. One unexpected snag is that the IT carb is too short (front to back) to connect the motor to the airbox.

The simplest solution is to space the reed block and/or intake manifold back to the carb.

My question is:
Should the spacer go between the reed block and the barrel, or between the manifold and the reed block?

Between the reed block and the cylinder is the norm.

On a 175 I would be extending off the front(airbox) side of the carb to meet the airbox rubber

Hi nathan, i made a spacer out of 10mm alu plate for my xc250 which i put between the barrel and the reed, made the the power much better off the bottom,no lag, evened it out right thru the range, not sure of the setup on the 175,from memory they were good right from the bottom,in that case you'd put it between reed and carb maybe? cheers

Does it matter ? for a while there the go was to get the reeds right down into the barrell, then it went too further back and wider, then it went to nothing matters as the tuned lenght is from the opening to atmoshere at the pod end to the crank opening anyway.

Fuc it Nat !  dont worry about, just shove it were it fits easiest, and looks the best.   ;)
