I kinded like it ::) If it was no good for pre78 you could always use it to cut the grass.

I LIKE THEM, GREAT BIKE.
-
a mate of mine has about 10 of those 5 still in the box it came in
-
Note the disk brakes and the lack of a clutch lever. I wonder what they are like to ride? :)
-
Looks like an upgrade from the Buzzards Cooper ;D

No need for a clutch lever on an Auto! The disc brakes work fine - maybe too well as they aren't as progressive as newer systems. And they are a lot of fun to ride, especially on greasy hills! Here's mine.

Pipe/muffler outlet is weird ?
interesting bike for its oddity.
-
It would fix the gearbox problems for the Buzzard :D, it looks a bit like a big boys Dickson minibike

Anyone remember Don Kudalski who raced a 250 Rokon auto for the factory in the US AMA nationals in the 70's??
He went pretty well on it too.
-
Are they very heavy bikes, what would you compare it with.
-
Feels a bit lighter than a tt500. Just harder to push when its not running.

I've got an RT340 Rokon I leave at my ex's place in California. I've owned it since 1984 so probably should bring it home to Daddy if she hasn't sold it on me. I loved riding the bloody thing despite having to stop and adjust the tensioners in the trans every 10 miles or so in a trail ride. They're weird things to ride with an even more lethal neutral freewheel than the Husky. Those disc brakes were there for a very important reason. Going downhill on a Rokon (or a Husky Auto to a lesser degree) is an experience not for the timid. The rope pull start is something I never quite got used to.
I remember Don Kudalski racing the 'works' Rokons in the mid to late seventies. He was a pretty good handler and the bikes he rode were damn fast, especially on the big 'Grand Prix' style enclosed desert style tracks like Corona and Elsinore. He never won much but he surprised most of us at the time with consistant mid pack finishes, often with big names behind him. I especially remember the sound and whine of the trans...you could pick in the middle of a noisy pack.

Come on Dave, you know very that Rokons are no lightweights. I'm certain you've seen and most probably ridden Drakeys Rokon at some time.

They look a cool bike I really like the see through petrol tank on them hard to run out of petrol when you can see the level of it with out unscrewing the cap.
-
You need to keep an eye on the fuel too Michael..they're thirsty buggers.

Mark, l have never ridden a rokon, l love to look of them, l am temping to buy that one in USA. but not game to press the little button, just incase the wife here it.
-
Can am I was reading in maybe VMX mag that the rokons suffered heavy brake fading is that true? If it isn't I obviously didn't read it in VMX and I suspect my PE would be just as bad on brakes fading.

Frosty, the ATK's were known for rear disc brake fade. I haven't experienced any fade (but I can hardly be accused of riding hard enough to fade the brakes :D). The factory riders bled air into the brakes to make them a bit more manageable.
Been watching those two for a week now Stan. Maybe....... :-\ ;)

Was being smart about the clutch lever :o. I thought that they were a variable drive and not a real auto at all :)
