I do not want to re-ignite the "CD8 location" debate!
But I can't let this go:
Numbers are not passionate or emotional and they are not biased, in this case the numbers tell the story:
QLD - CONONDALE: 48 (49%)
NSW - RAYMOND TERRACE: 19 (19.4%)
VIC - BROADFORD/BARRABOOL: 25 (25.5%)
WA: 1 (1%)
SA: 1 (1%)
NT: 4 (4.1%)
The poll is badly flawed from the start. The suggested venues are NOT the only possible venues in each of those states.
To draw any conclusions from such a flawed poll is completely wrong.
Again, this is not about where CD8 should be held, its about not drawing inaccurate conclusions from polls that mean nothing.
I mean, my poll will clearly show that nobody rates the Maico 490 as the best bike ever - the number don't lie!
Now, where's that face-palm icon?
Sorry for (yet another) rant. I really did credit the poll maker with more understanding than that...

The irony is whatever we say or decide will have no bearing on, if and were CD8 is held
-
I think that there should have been the option WGAF !!! as long as it happens i'll be there, has anyone here ever been to a bad one???
-
Love that poll . Any chance you work for a government department? :)
No insult intended if you don,t. :o
-
I don't take any notice of any of these forum polls and have only ever contributed to one. The results mean 3/5 of FA, they're easily manipulated and are usually badly drawn up. I'd be hesitant to base any opinion on the results of any forum polls.
-
if thats imperial shouldnt it be a 8th or 16th Firko :O0

Let’s face it for a VMX tragic, CD’s are like sex, mostly great. I guess I am saying it’s a bit too early and possibly unfair to be asking “when and where would you like the next CD?” when your still wearing a hard on from Canondale.
-
Nathan you seem to have an issue with the Connondale venue ::) fork the polls where do you think it should be held ???
-
I like Diamonds Don's in Texas. Should we have it there? :P
-
Welll... you guys have always wanted to expand into the States.
But... how do I convince my wife I should jet off to the States for a week without her?
-
I like Diamonds Don's in Texas. Should we have it there? :P
Let us know ASAP AJ so we can start saving ;D Diamond Dons sounds like a good 2nd choice to Connondale ;)
-
Well looks like AJ is shouting us all to the states.
Good on you mate ;)
Nathan I never get to involved with any off your posts for the reason being if you don't like what other people are saying you keep going on and on about it until they either do or give up. We all have a view too mate and some times you need to except that and let it go!
That said,
I am always going to want it at Conondale as I love the venue. But I did liked Broadford and Raymond Terrace and would go back to each in a flash (if that is where they are to be held). But for shear numbers and the differing disciplines it is a hard place to beat (Conondale).
The point of the matter is it is up to Ajay and Ken as to where it is held and as a sponsor I have said I would commit regardless of where it is at (within Australia that is) and if it is in WA well Alison will need to be pitching some tents in her back yard for us ;D
Lets get off this kick as I am still have fond memories of two weeks ago (save for the cling wrap to the bike episode) and will just wait and see where we are going next!!!
It will only get bigger and better if we ALL support it.

For Bill and Shane:

Jock, I understood where you were coming from when you started the poll. But I had thought/hoped that christ-knows how many pages of discussion that came after it, would have made it clear that the poll was pretty much useless.
-
In the poll can you put ' none of the above'?
-
I like Diamonds Don's in Texas. Should we have it there? :P
Fark Yeah!!!, like I said wherever it's held, I'm there. ;)
-
1 well, if it going to be far to fly or drive, l would CD8 to be at Connondale, or NZ at that great undulated track called ???
2 But also l feel that their would be some great undulating natural terrain around Camberra District.
3 Ternunda district, would be nice to go back too.
4 Harrow would also be a great spot
5, Barrabool
-
you forgot Bathurst Dave ;D ;D ;D
-
No l did`t, Bathurst complex is for NSW. boys to look into.
-
glenbawn,i can see the look on the rangers face now, ;D ;D ;D, :P
-
Tc100 for sure ................well I seem to own seven of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:( sad isn't it......
-
4 Harrow would also be a great spot
Harrow would be a good place, something there for all bikes on about 1600 acres to.
-
Pardon my ignorance, but where exactly is Harrow?
-
Pretty much half way along the Vic-SA border, on the Vic side.
The scrambles track is an awesome genuine natural terrain track in a farmer's paddock.
The rest of the property has plenty of interesting riding, and its big.
-
Harrow is were they have a scramble round and also were one of the vinduro's is held at with the next one coming up on the 24th & 25th of July it would be great for the trial bikes as there is plenty of hilly rocky stuff and it would cater for any amount of people that wanted to go.
There is hundreds of photo's of 2009 Harrow Vinduro here www.endurobiketalk.com

It's here: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&q=the+town+of+harrow+in+victoria&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Harrow+Victoria&gl=au&ei=jo8iTJr7ApWXkQWA4IGJBQ&ved=0CB4Q8gEwAA&ll=-37.169072,141.591797&spn=1.584547,2.850952&t=h&z=9
Crickey! That's pretty remote. No wonder it's got the area it has.... I'm guessing that there isn't much in the way of local tourism industry... ;)
-
Harrow is a good option.Great riding, nice country.Nothing nasty (unless Drakey tries to build a bridge again).Just have to convince Lochie to have a large mob of riders sharing the block with his sheep.
The location is a handy compromise to involve the SA,WA and TAS contingents too and the township is bike friendly.
-
If the whole "pre-85 riders want supercross jumps" thing is actually true, then the only other downside to Harrow as a venue for CD8 is the lack of non-camping accomodation.
-
See you all at Conondale next year ;)
EDIT ; Is this better?
See you guys that can, want to, can afford it, who can't afford it but come anyway and anybody else that will go no matter where it is, at Conondale next year!
-
Not all. ;)
-
Is anyone in the know have any idea when would there be, or at least be expected, an "official" announcement as to the location for CD8 in 2011?
Would it be this year or early next year? With work I typically plan 12 months in advance so I am trying to work a business trip/expense into the location to offset the costs.
