Title: AIR FILTER SUZUKI RM400N 1979 - Can you help?

I am having no luck getting a (genuine) air filter for my Suzuki RM400N.  Have tried a few alternatives but am not happy that they are fitting properly.
Can anyone either tell me where I might get my hands on a genuine part (my contacts tell me none are available) - or suggest an air filter make/model that will give me the fit I need.

As I don't want to dust my motor...  :)

Have a look on US ebay, plenty of Unifilters there. I went through the same thing and got one on ebay.

I have been running a Uni Filter on my 400T for years now, it's a dual stage filter. You will need the original plastic filter cage to use with it.

Give Haydn at Unifilter Australia a ring. I bet they have your RM filter on the books. I needed two custom made filters for my Cheney and once I told them the sizes they made them and posted them to me in under 4 days.

Am chasing up Unifilter now - they say that they only show 1980 filter (nothing for 1979) which should be compliant.  Otherwise they will custom make.

1980 RM400 air filter is very different to 1979 RM400 air filter.

Yes, I have learnt that! The filter cage I have for the 400N is 13.5cm diameter and 8cm high.  I believe the 400T cage is smaller.
Am sending the cage to Unifilter to custom make one - guaranteed to fit then. Hayden was helpful.

Just got back the cage from Unipart with two new air filters that fit perfectly.  Hayden found that the filter from the PE175N fits - part number NU 2420 ST.

Gday Viper,

I purchased a K&N air filter for my 400N when i was rebuilding the bike from Ebay USA, fits great too with perfect seal.
