Title: Roar aluminium
Post by: rohan on June 15, 2010, 07:56:48 pm
Hi Guys,

I am currently restoring a PE Suzuki. I have just cleaned up the triples by removing the paint and cleaning with a light scourer wheel and I think they look great in roar aluminium, but my question is: will they corrode in some way if left like this and therefore should I put a clear cote on them or will they be ok as is?

Rohan, I have just started using outboard motor clear with good results. Just put on a light coat........ as being too thick and it will chip easily.
comes in a blueish can.

Original finish is Champagne Gold Metallic paint but if you want to just clear coat paint them then go for it. Also consider silver paint too. There is a early 80's Ford silver thats really good natural alloy looking.  If you leave them bare they wont stay looking good for long, will corrode and are hard to maintain. You will regret not coating them if you leave them bare.
