Title: Project bike wanted up to $1500 Brisbane area

Hi all,

I am new to VMX and I am chasing a project bike so I can start having fun.

I have a budget of about $1500 and need something 250cc or bigger.
I'm not too worried about the condition, allthough a complete or going bike would be great.
I live in Kallangur on the northside of Brisbane and will travel a couple of hours either way if needed.
Anything considered.
Does anyone think there will be much for sale at CD7?

Also I have a very poor condition Kawasaki F11 250, I know these are more of a trtail bike but would it be worth trying to vmx? Are they anygood?

Hi Brian & welcome to VMX fun!

The F11 can be made into a decent pre-75 VMXer. Steve Cox has raced one for many years & Doc on here loves his.  A bit of porting, better pipe & bigger carb, remove excess weight, better rear shocks. Perhaps a less restrictive airbox & smaller (100/175) tank.

George McKenzie in Bris did the engine work on Steve's bike. Or I have factory porting & pipe specs if your interested.

The later F11's had a semi-close ratio gearbox which is better. (After engine # 16500 I think)

See if you can make it to Cannondale for Classic Dirt 7 on Sat/Sun of Queens B'day long w'end.  You wont be sorry.
