Just come back from a Central Australia trip, and came across these machines at Glen Helen Gorge. Unfortunately I had to grab some pics while they were getting ready to roll at first light. Apparently just a bunch of blokes from NZ who decided to do a Sydney to Broome trip via the dirt......something like 4 or 5 Triumphs and 2 W650 Kwaka's (to keep 'em honest) complete with (overworked) 'cruiser support vehicle.
Looked like a scene from Mad Max with them all pulled up in front of the lodge!!
Awesome bikes (and trip) I haven't been able to find anything on da web about it though, so they must be keeping it a secret

They are great photos and a real adventure.
Is the support vehicle even legal like that?
You would have to watch out for low bridges.

No, we couldn't get to climb the old girl. Closed due to wind and forecast rain. :-\
Geez it's become very commercialised in the last 25 years, or maybe it was x'y then and I didn't notice?
Decided to get a room while there, 300 odd bucks a night, $45 for a steak, best bit is the boom gate to get in to see the rock....really adds to the experience talking to a lame brain through bullet proof glass while handing over $25 a head for a 3 day pass, when ya get there you find you can't take pics at a lot of spots anyway. Then whn you check out they ask for a $2 donation for the community??
Best bit overall? I think the Finke Gorge track, it's truly great down there.

congratulations Alison.
I was telling my Darling that the experts reckon the average man speaks 2000 words a day, while the average woman speaks 8000 words a day.
She coughed, spluttered and rolled around on the carpet, uncontrolably laughing her guts out. I kept walking around her, circling her ...I kept asking her..."are you all right darlin?,..whats wrong darlin?,..are you all right?"
She had tears rolling down her cheaks. The more I spoke, the more tears she got ??? When she finally regained composure, she said....... “obviously the experts have never met you, have they Mick?” ::)

We drove up the Onandatta Track, dropped into Lake Eyre and in through the Finke, then onto the East McDonald Ranges( Aritunga area) .The Garnets(false Ruby's) washed in the creek bed where pretty specky to see, never seen such a glow of red sands. All good times. ;D
