Title: CR to XL Front end

I was hoping for some help.

I have read previous posts that talks about 82/83 CR480 Front Ends. Does this conversion require posts to be changed? (I.e. XL post to CR Triple clamp?)

I have a 86 CR Front End with 43mm forks. Ideal, however the posts are a different length and the XL post looks like it is welded in from the factory?

Is this front end (86) to late for the conversion and can anyone help regarding how you do the conversion correctly.

the post from the CR can be pressed out of its lower clamp and machined to suit your XL. Not pre 85 legal tho. Why does Big k call you poof boy?
