Title: Please MR GMC
Post by: Tim754 on April 19, 2010, 10:18:14 pm
Geoff could design and build a period pre75 era frame to suit an SL125 engine/ . Would be a dream ride for me as I could go slow with relevant style.. ;) Tim754

Jeez Motomaniac....If you'd been following the forum a bit closer you'd have already known about how good these little Rickmans are for building specials. ;D I'm fitting a 250 Maico to one, my friend Ben in the UKs dad had a 250 Beeza engine, I've seen 250/350 Yammy, Triumph Tiger Cub, and Villiers engines. I reckon most centre port engines will fit..the engine room's quite roomy. at the risk of repeating myself..see below

Jeez Firko ,I feel like I'm back in school, never paid enough attention there either.
That thing is sweet.
The frame that I saw at the swap meet was $800 ?? A bit much I thought so I passed it up.
Whats  your opinion on a fair price for one?

I paid $100US for mine, Jonesy got his for nothing, all he had to pay was the shipping. On average you'll pay around $200 or so, but if you buy one, make sure you get the tank and as much bodywork as possible......to my knowledge no other tanks fit because of the frame design.

Sort of new oldskool. you would get a nice period looking bike with some better reliability. Should be fun to ride.

Well I just got back from my first holiday for the year in Uzbekistan and I see I have another frame order.
I should be able to retire very soon now with orders like this ;D

Tim, your in luck. I have just the frame for you.
The price will suit you.
As will the potential for speed.
It already comes in "speed red" (Honda's chose red for the CR's so they could at least look fast)
It even perfectly suits people from country towns,
And comes with many accessories

Tim, Come on down and let me do it right for you....

And that one would have electric start for you-that'd blow 'em away on the start grid!!

That's the problem with old aggy bikes, even after a good hose down they still smell like cowshit.

When he's finished with it it will look exactly like a genuine HL500!

As if I would hose it down to make it look good for a sale ::)

Truth is it rained here this morning, which is really odd as it usually only rains here when there's a VMX meeting on

EML it is  a CT125, no electric start ;)  Then again the electric starter system is still fitted to my 754 sidecar....... Love watching blokes trying to kickstart XS Yamahas or Norton twins on a cold wet VMX day When we just flick out the kickstarter ,say "naaaa stuff that" Then grossly injure a thumb pressing the starter  button...... Cheers Tim754
