Has anyone been or going to the Whitsunday Classic. The wife want's to do a trip north so I thought I might give it a go.
It might be a bit of a struggle being the weekend after CD. Took a bit of time to get over last years :P
Anywoo, Whats the go is it two days of racing, is there a web site?
Cheers

I've been to the Whitsunday Event a couple of times. It's a good fun weekend. I'd like to go again this year, but I am not sure I can get there in time.
On Saturday arvo they have a pretty causal (think NQ) Show N Shine at the nearby ex-dam workers camp. It's casual, but the bikes on display are often very nice indeed.
Sunday is racing, the event is a regular open MX event which includes and features Classic Racing classes in the program. The times I went there were around 200 riders all up, with about 50 Classics.
The track is natural terrain, without any artifical jumps at all. Would be fun to ride for sure (I don't ride anymore).
All in all the friendly, easy going nature of the event (and officials) along with the location make it an unique event which is worth going to I feel if you like something a little different.

Go its a great event, a great track, well organized, if I can work it I'll be there
-
Sounds cool
Can you camp at the track?
-
We raced there two years ago and had a ball.
The track was so much fun to ride and a great atmosphere.
Accomodation is at the old dam workers camp about 2km from the track. All the non race events occur there and most of the attendees stay there too.
I'm try to arrange to get to this years event

First time on a sidecar l do remember... and yes it is a great event, you can camp at the track but why would you when for about $30 you get a 3 coarse tea a bed and breakfast for the night..... Berta will have to get her medium ridged licence so she can help me drive... Remember live hard die sideways----

Yeah Interested how the CD7 VIP Rider from Darwin went !

My arthritis would gladly like to be up there in sunny NQ right now. The zero degrees in my kitchen this morning does nothing for my well being at all. :'( I hope to get up there next time the Japanese riders pay a visit, hopefully next year.
