Been a bit quiet in here, just thought I would share some of my photos from the 87ISDE.
Packing the van and hiding our money before the drive across East Germany.

Way cool.
:)
I'd always figured that while the MZs and Jawas might have been agricultural they were designed to work when it mattered - but seeing them in a motocross situation against the other bikes makes me feel some sympathy for the riders!
Edit: 1986 model YZ-S in 1987, because...?
-
Cool to see all the vintage face masks etc etc cool outfit the green and gold the arai helmet looks very good in green and gold.
-
1986 model YZ-S in 1987, because...?
Umm yeah, I don't remember why.
-
Awesome shots CHEERS!!!
-
1986 model YZ-S in 1987, because...?
Umm yeah, I don't remember why.
maybe it depended on the time of year it was run, and the YZ250S was well sorted.
that model YZ was very fast.
-
I thought the ISDE was alway in September?
The KTM500 (350?) that's #326 has 1988 model stickers on it!
-
Yep it was September. I'm interested now, might give Phil a call.
I raced that bike in an enduro early the next year and it was fast.
-
Great pics, thanks NSR.

I had a YZ250S for enduros, and it was a much better bike in the bush than the 87 model. The '86 just had a magic motor for enduros.. Although I suppose you could have just put an 'S' barrel and pipe on a 'T'..
And Anand & Thomson were getting the 'T''s complianced, so it is a bit strange...
Actually, still have one of those compliance plates sitting in my garage now. 1987 Yamaha YZ250AT.
They never fixed them to the steering head, just gave them to you when you bought the bike. Guy who bought mine only wanted a motocrosser. Only owned the bike for 1 year, but had it registered for another 4, if you get my drift.... ::) ::) ::)
-
Yes, good pics, and I'm sure good memories too.
Did you ride?
If so how did you go?
-
Nah, didn't ride, almost did on day 5 ;)
One thing i do remember was how many euros asking why they wern't going to OZ for the 88ISDE. Of couse we held back blaming MA & MSA Not. I wonder if that dipshit from SA still has that "ISDE 88" number plate on his car >:(
-
Good stuff . Love it
-
Still have my "
ISDE '88 Australia Cancelled" T-Shirt at home somewhere - very faded though, nearly wore that thing to death....

I think there is something wrong with private messages because I do not have any confirmation after you send them. I wrote to the NSR but I'm afraid that the mail does not reach. So I'm writing it here:
hello
We create a quarterly motorcycle and in the next issue we (probably) will publish the text about 87 ISDE Poland. Unfortunately, we do not have pictures from this
event.
Our magazine is an independent quarterly motorcycle, Which you can read for free. Unfortunately, only in English. The issue is available in electronic form on our website: www.swoimidrogami.pl
I see than NSR have photos from this event
I would like to ask you for permission to use your photos in our text. Of course, be happy to sign you as the author.
Or maybe some of you also have photos from the event and could share them?
Greetings from Polish
Jacek

Great photos NSR.
Does Dickie and Phil still ride?
-
Does Dickie and Phil still ride?
No, not at all. Dickies son races some enduros and club days.
I tried to get them to come to CDs, but I did not see them. I'll be letting them know about the Vinduro Sprint.

They sure do look agricultural but they sure must have worked!

When I was the C of C at a recent event I was talking to Dickie, and I asked about Phil. His reply, "he's getting fat and driving tourist buses" as we were talking I noted he still drove the same old Holden ute he and Phil traveled to events in.
