Title: 1974 Yamaha MX 175
Post by: DCPlasticsguy on April 14, 2010, 11:04:33 pm
Can I use a wiseco piston from a 1976 Yamaha YZ 175 in my MX 175 cylinder? The wiseco part number is 374M06750. It
would allow me to go over a few sizes from the oem yamaha pistons. Also, Wiseco shows a piston for the 78-82 DT 175 and CT2/CT3 175 models. That part number is 471M06750. The pin and bearing sizes would both work. Please let me
know if anyone has done this.

Nathan should be along any minute now.........
i'm not too up to speed with the 175's but a 76" piston kit into a 74" on a 125 is done everyday and not a problem. the porting hasn't changed enough to require a new piston set~up so i'd be happy with the 76" wiseco kit.
i'd reckon the later would also work as in the 125's, i think up to 82 are all interchangable as long as you have the right rings for the right piston as there are some different ring configurations between the pistons.
buy a whole piston kit if you can.

YEp just check that your using the iron bore rings ( one listed in Wiseco next to the MX rings)
