Just wondering if there are any clubs out there that might be putting up a proposal?
Suggest we need someone to stick up their hand and have a go

It's has to be time NSW had a go at it. We haven't had it since Mt Kembla 1993. Surely some forward thinking club can put their hand up and offer to run it? I guess the big problem is finding a suitable venue with the right infrastructure (nearby accomodation etc) but things aren't insurmountable.

The Taupo VMX club would be happy to host the event ;) where do we apply :)
-
errr, Mark, Coff's is still in NSW isn't it? ;D if it's not, I'll have to pencil in a new border on my map. Welcome to QLD Donny and Co! 8)

Doh!......A Homer moment. I seem to be having more of them in recent years! Coffs looks like Queensland, that's what buggered me up.....
The three times we have hosted it ('91,93,07) doesn't detract from the point that we've got a lot of catching up to do to match Victoria and Queensland, shit, even South Australia's hosted it twice and there's bugger all vintage racing down there.
-
It's alright Firko, Coffs is pretty much QLD,....... Taupo sounds good to me...... could even top Conondale as the best nats ever (MX that is, not like the vinduro we just had) :D
-
The last time a major international event was run at Taupo you Aussies got your 1st World MX champion Jay Wilson :D

Could be an omen ;)
All shit aside they have run the Australian 4 day enduro here run under MA :)
where do we sign :)
-
But which track are you talking, the permanent one or one of the ones that the photos from get the aussies drooling? ;)
-
Personally i would run the permanant track ;D but it would be rude not to tear up some grass for the Aussies :)
OR
Fri and Sat upto pre 78 on grass
Sun and Mon Evo upto pre 90 on the permanent track :-\

Count me in to help Bill, I'm sure we could put on a good meeting for our neighbours. Those Pre78 and older bikes would like Waverley dirt.
-
Just run the permanent track, easy peasee ;)..... Oh, and the beers are on Bill!!
-
Natural Terrain is so easy, peg out a paddock and resow will grass seeds a week later run a smugger over it ( reverse) and bobs your uncle walk away next years new grass change the layout of a new track, the bike will airrate the soil. (only used once a year. )

Can go water ski-ing in between events!!lol Then again there is Manjimup, what an iconic event that would be!!

Chistmas Hills! Jerry

Manjimup sounds nice, Nigel.... ;D

Come on guys there must be a club out there that is willing to put up their hand to hold the nats next year. Tassie would put up there hand again but we had it a couple of years ago and you guys dont want to come all the way down here again so soon. What about SA ? there hasnt been one there for a fair while.
Lets think long and hard about this topic as this is very important to the future of our sport that we have a Australian Championship in 2011.

need to have action not words. I reckon QVMX for the post 78 and Bris for the pre 78 as a combo effort out at Cunungra, more than a year to prep. Lots of back up, would be doable. Better to have it than to miss a year deciting what to do.
-
Dave, the track at cunungra is that what they call the paper track.
-
no thats the track at nudgee in brisbane dave ;)

Who is familiar with the Lakes track near Toronto ( Newcastle) NSW? Those of you who know the track, what's your thoughts on it for a venue? Would cut out the bottom section with the stutters in it and just run the top section. 95% natural terrain on the side of a hill. Good facilities, plenty of accomodation only 10 minutes away in Newcastle suburbs, plenty of water for the track, good spectator viewing. HEAVEN runs rounds of our series at this track and members love the place. Tell me what people think? Cheers

paper pulp is used on the track, tho we have approx 700cm3 of wood chip lined up once we get approval from the council to bring it on site .running the pre 78 if the new proposal comes in,we would look at
-
Man, I'd be there like a shot if BMCC held the Pre 78 Nats. That would be fun. And while I have not ridden Lakes, from what I've heard it'd make a great venue for the Evo/Pre 85 Nats. Now that's a proposal - separate the two groups and run one at Nudgee and one at Lakes. Pre 78 in say April and Evo/Pre 85 in about October.
-
now we are talking!
-
Thinking caps are on, sounds good,Natural terrain, another week or fornights holiday bring it on and make it happen l will be their.
-
Now we are talking indeed!! VMXWA put in a propsal to run Pre 75 nationals only last year and were told absolutely no way. The Championship event could not be split and all classes must be run to be awarded a National Championship according to MA and whoever considered the proposal? So if we're talking splitting Pre 75 and evo etc will this be permitted and has MA had a change of heart?

thats not 100% correct.
VMXWA were non negociable on the event and withdrew. There was however a considerable effort made by the club (and others, myself included) to run that event in WA within a frame work that would have suited everyone.
Its understood (and respected) that VMXWA's constitution will only allow it to run pre 75 and thats 100% OK but when a club wants to run all of the meeting (as the Preston club) and there is an absence of someone else prepared to run the latter model stuff WA didnt want to run which way do you think the decision will go? WA was not the only applicant.
VMXWA should be encouraged to apply as should the proposals I am seeing from SA and QLD.
If you think about it - and the supersenior50 proposal and the others along similar lines are potentially what will happen in 2011 then whats stopping the WA club doing it again or a Viper type club running the later classes.
The only limmiting factor on it all is someone actually puting up a proposal to do some thing.

it would be a while before it would be possible but 2 clubs in WA on 2 different tracks could make it worthwhile for Eastern States riders as well if it was run a week apart. Might as well bring 2 bikes than 1 if you were that way inclined.
Rossco
explain away ;D

Could definitely run pre85 at manjimup the club is geared up for big events and what a track

true, but they would still need to pool there resources/volunteers from other clubs in the south west...yer yer I'm racist/predigest. ;D
-
Al - if you were to run an event(s) in WA to cater for (Mike!) pre 78 and pre 85 (90) then there really are only 2 tracks that fit the bill - Narrogin for pre 78 and Manjimup for pre 85. The other tracks pale into insignificence beside these 2. Unless of course you want to run pre78 at Wandering ;D - awesome!
