Just watched video on the morning show of Robbie Maddison jumping some Greek shipping canal, with a side cam camera attached. Pretty impressive.

I'm continually impressed by this bloke. Besides having balls the size of watermelons he comes accross as a nice bloke with little or none of the emoh bad boy attitude.

Done with pure ease... 8)
Did you notice the first small jump on the lawn edge...prep for air time ;D
FYI The Corinth Canal is a canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnesian peninsula from the Greek mainland, thus effectively making the former an island. The canal is 6.3 kilometres in length and was built between 1881 and 1893.The Corinth Canal is considered a great technical achievement for its time. It saves the 400 kilometres long journey around the Peloponnesus for smaller ships, but since it is only 21 metres wide it is too narrow for modern ocean freighters. The canal is nowadays mostly used by tourist ships; 11,000 ships per year travel through the waterway. The water in the canal is 8 metres deep.
At each end of the canal, seashore roads cross using submersible bridges that are lowered to the canal bottom to allow maritime traffic to pass.
The canal was cut through heavily faulted sedimentary rock in an active seismic zone.[16] Between 1893 and 1940, it was closed a total of four years for maintenance and to stabilize the walls. In 1923 alone, 41,000 cubic meters of material fell into the canal, which required two years to clear out.

Awesome! Do you think someone should talk to him about jumping across the entrance to Port Phillip bay like (I think it was) Clarrie Jones was a few years ago? Jerry

Hello ,
As Robbie's inlaws live and work on the South Coast of NSW we have had the pleasure of seeing Robbie in action at yerringong and at the Nowra Show. He has so much time for his fans, loves the kids and what he can do on a bike is awesome.
He just proves that nice things happen to really nice blokes.

Don't you think that somebody should have told Robbie that there was a bridge just down the way… Just a thought! ;D ;D ;D

True he does also come across as someone who takes this stuff fairly seriously to, putting as much science and training in as any other elite sportman. AMCN had a good article on his preparation for the NYE jump, he reckon he nearly came unstuck on the drop off but the intense training saved him.
Nice to see he still uses the humble YZ250, the TSI salutes you ;D

What's he going to do next, I reckon he is well on the way of killing himself.

Boy, that guy should be issued a complementary pilot's licence ! What a star ! And not just a tattooed whiz gobbler like many others in the same game, he's ballsy for sure, but also a thinker and can formulate a sentence. A credit to the sport, the game, and his country. ;)

Shouldn’t that be “CR500 best tool in the shed” or am I getting carried away again.
