could anyone tell me if the model 85 alpina had aluminium front and rear mud guards.paul.

Yes, They most definitely had aluminium guards. I remember crashing my brother in laws, when I was a wipper snapper. Then trying to unsuccessfully to straighten the guard. I can still see it clearly.
The latter 250 115mod and the 350 116mod had stainless steel guards.
