Does such a beast exist? All the ones that I've found only date back no further than 1984 :(. Does anyone know of one that goes back to 1981?

Hey 414, what about I lend you my microfiche machine and I think I still have a set of fiche plates for the early KX80 series. Let me know. Transport to your side of town might be costly though. ;D ;D ;D

Kawasaki Motors have 99% of parts fiche online. On the left side about halfway down you'll see 'owners info' the parts lists are in there, sometimes it pays to simply look for the model e.g. KX80 and not KX80F1 or whatever the suffix is. This will bring up a list of years and you simply pick the model ;)
