What's the best front hub and backing plate to use on a 1977 TT500?

Can you interchange between brands ie. honda had a tls setup on the early XR500's?

I am using the TT forks as i am piston broke!

 Cheers,
 Steve

What do you mean by best?

best as in easiest to fit? or best as in best stopping power?

If you want the best possible hub with less rooting around modifying things then go with the standard TT or IT hub which is the same.
If you want the best stopping power then fit a larger XT hub.

You say you have 77 TT forks. They are still staight inline axle forks and not leading axle. The first model with leading axle was the 79 TT and the the XT followed in 1980. You wont be able to fit YZ/IT or even a Honda TLS brake to the inline axle forks very easily if at all. I wouldnt recommend to do it anyway and it will look out of place on those forks if you can even get it all to fit. if you want a TLS brake then fit a matching TLS brake/forks off another bike.

If you have your heart set on fitting a hub off another model then watch out for different axle sizes and different locations/widths of the slot in the brake plates that engage in the fork leg.

Just after an easy fit i guess. Thanks for the heads up, i'll start looking for the stock set up in the wanted forum.

Not sure what you are trying to do?
Do you have the TT hub at the moment because if you do then it's the same hub for many models, it's the backing plate that changed over the years.

I always thought this was a better hub than the larger XT hub ???

				TT 500 - 130 X 22mm brake
 XT 500 - 160 X 25mm brake

 what is better?

lighter weight then the TT hub is the go
more stoping power then the XT is the go

Thanks GMC, no i don't have a hub hence the search. Now i have an idea what to look for Thanks!

Those Hubs above are to suit your model, assuming you have 77 D model forks.
The backing plates changed over the years to suit different forks, mostly the backing plate lugs.
The backing plate to suit your forks and the above hub is....

Further research shows that the lower left fork leg came from the following models, therefore any of these backing plates will also fit your forks
