I had a KX 80 D2 back in the day and I'm considering going down the path of restoring (against my better judgement) one. I'm assuming that the D1 and D2 were virtually the same ('80/'81) and I'm also assuming that parts would be a pain in the arse.
Any ideas?

Yup. That's the one I'm looking at but I think it's going to cost me more to freight it down here than to actually buy...... :-\

maybe see if anyone in Maryborough can pick it up. If you can get it to Brisbane you're halfway there. Classic Dirt is just around the corner, and there'll be plenty of southerners up for a drive then.

Sold one of those complete, reasonable condition in need of a rebore or rechrome, for $250 a few weeks back. $500 for the one on ebay is too much Rosco. Pretty sure I have a NOS cylinder for one somewhere if you end up with one.
Cheers,
K

This was my original. Please excuse the 'knob' sitting on it...... :-[

No but I think I might have just had my first root.... ;)
Have ya still got that cardigan ?
Yes it did take a few years for the Fashion Fairy Godmother to find me..... ::)
-
Obviously you didn't pick up while wearing the cardigan
-
She didn't notice it. I wish the damn labrador could've stopped humping my leg though...... ::)
-
Would've been difficult if the Lab was crackin a decent pace :-\

I'm thinking when you've bought and restored the KX80, you should scour St Vinnie's stores to find a replica jumper, and then reshoot that photo, complete with slightly crazed grin ;D
-
That's easy. I'd just buy it back off "over the bars" Ian (the cardy that is). ;) I'd be happy to do the shoot again. Different spot though. That place is now a retirement village. ::)
Does anybody know anybody with a KX 80 D2 (or D1)? The one on eBay looks like it's going to be a right pain in the arse! Surely there must be one closer to Vic (and in better condition). I really, really want one....... :'(
