Title: Brake Shoes for Yamaha YZ250C 1976 model.
Post by: mudguard on March 16, 2010, 10:14:33 pm
I need some advice on brake shoes for a 1976 Yamaha YZ250C. These are almost impossible to get for this model for some reason. Lots of ebay sellers advertise brake shoes for A & B models and D,E,F,G.H. They all tell me that they do not have C model ???
Can anyone confirm if the hub numbers are identical for consecutive models as I have been told that a D is the same hub number as a C. Need info for front & rear. Pro Yamaha can get genuine but at $60 front & $90 rear is slightly over budget.
Cheers,
Wayne.

Yamaha-motor.com lists the part number as 1W4-.... This means that the C shoes have been supersceded to the 250D shoes, and means that 250D shoes must also fit.

My gut feeling is that the shoes from a 250C will be interchangeable with all of the other 'big drum' bikes of the era: DT1, DT250A, YZ250A/B/D/E/F, XT/TT500, etc.

I'm very wary of the cross-matches on a lot of sites. The G has a smaller rear brake than the F & the H, but is often shown as having the same shoes.
