23rd and 24th of Feb. Cool,I'll be there with bells on!
-
I live 5 minutes from the track Brad so there's somewhere for you and your bikes to stay.
-
Thanks mate. Hows the rash? :-*
-
Happy new year.
Is there any more updates on this , not far away now thats it's 2008
Noel

It's my guess this won't be on... there's no news on the site, and I've heard no mention of entries or supp regs and with it just a few weeks away it leaves things a bit tight for people to decide to enter.
-
Yeah
All i've read doesn't point to vintage inclusions, can you expand on this Bruce as I think this was originally a thread you put forward
-
Mark Avard's race meetings allways seem to be like that.. a last minute decision as to whether it's on or not. We are waiting for news on the motard race and series.
-
Spoke to Magoo this afternoon (10/1/07), he informs me that the meeting is still on. No need for concern he will post more info as he gets it. Remember the meeting is still 6 weeks away, heaps of time to get the old bikes and bodies going.

What's the go with Moto Mayhem?
I would have thought that the organisers would have been smothering us with hype for this big event by now, but still nothing.
This meet has the potential to be a great season opener and the fact that it's the last ever meeting on Oran Parks MX track makes it espcially important. Unfortunately most punters I speak to know nothing of it and are speaking only about CD5. Granted, the promoter Mark Avard is notorious for leaving his promotional releases right 'till it's almost too late but I would have thought a few words on this forum mapping out the vintage side of the program would have been a great starter.
It has to be factored in that the VMX calendar is chocka block with meetings in the first half of this year so punters need plenty of notice so they can map out a game plan. With Moruya and Coffs Dirt Tracks and Heavens first round at Clarence and CD5 vying for the racers well earned dollars within an 8 week period this meeting will be up against it unless it's quickly sold to the racers as the significant event that it is. It shouldn't be taken for granted that racers will just show up anyway. They have to know about it.
It's worth remembering that the last motocross meeting at Oran Park in 1999 had over 200 entries, swept up in a big burst of nostalgia so I reckon the last ever motocross at Oran Park deserves a similar treatment.
-
I just had a look on the moto mayhem website and it lists Classic MX on the natural terrain track. It has a list of the classes they will be running too. I'll call Mark tomorrow and get an update on what's going on. Looks like an over 50's class is running as well which should be good.
-
Why ? You plan on running in the over 50's ?
-
in 20 years maybe
-
I think you have confused your months with years :D
-
Maybe even days
-
Got the entry forms for Moto Mayhem today. A few different classes to ride, looks like it'll be a good meeting.
-
The supp regs are on the moto mayhem website. It's on and looks like a good meeting. Should be great.
-
Magoo,
Pm Sent on another issue
-
Is it to apologise for getting me pissed the other night and making my drive back to Sydney a hell ride?
-
Were they holding you down and pouring beers down your throat again mate? Baaastards! Is the invitation still open for accommodation on Mayhem weekend Magoo?
-
Sure is
-
Mr Magoo, can you clarify if the old dunger class (pre 75), rides on the MX track or on a separate grasstrack, as in the Entry form & info. I can't seem to find the definitive answer.
Personally I'd rather race on the MX track. And if its grasstrack I may as well race around your backyard.
Cheers beers.

Apologise, "What The" :o,
the cheeky bugger drank our beer, called us all "Mexican Pricks" and Brown eyed us from Elvis's Yank Tank . he ain't welcome no more, just hope he was better behaved at Firko's 58th Piss up. ;D ;D :D
a great night actually (except for those boils on his arse)
-
Yes Magoo behaved himself at Firko's 58th piss up, it was a good night ;D
-
I can't possibly respond to Hoonys unfounded accusations without the assistance of my lawyer as I don't actually remember the proceedings from the later part of the evening in question.
As for you young Macca, as far as I know Saturday will be free riding all day and racing Sunday, with all the action on the motocross track. Anyone who has ridden Oran Park will know it's one of the best tracks in N.S.W. and a shit load of fun. It will be worth going to for sure. I might even put on a barbie on Saturday night as I only live 5 minutes from the track.
090s shout.
-
Good luck magoo.. Brad's pockets are empty, he just bought another 45 bikes.
-
Maybe you could subsidise 090s cost and stay too John, the door's open, or is the boss shouting your accomodation?
-
Yeah i think i will have to ride my bike down, i sold my car to buy another bike ::) . I shall have some vomit bombs with me. I will have to buy them down there though as no one in they're right mind drinks the shit up here. And it seems that you need to go on a list now for a liver and kidney transplant . No organs can handle the abuse you dish out ,not to mention the poison of choice! Oh and thanks for the invite, um... does your wife snore?
-
So Magoo, how many actual races are there? The Regs say classes combined, 40 gate grid. Is it one race with all classes combined, or are they combining classes where necessary to make the 40 starters, and if they had enough entries there'd be... what... 5 separate races?
-
As far as I know they will be combining classes to fill the grid but seeing all riders will be wearing transponders all classes will be scored separately. I'll check on the exact format and get bac but I'm sure there will be heaps of riding / racing over the weekend.

This meeting should have been the only thing on racers minds for the last few months. If enough pizzaz and hype had been thrown into the lead up on this forum and the media I reckon the organisers may have lured a half decent vintage lineup. This meeting is a fantastic opportunity for the vintage movement to show itself off to a public that has little knowledge of what our sport is about. That exposure is the best recruitment opportunity our sport could hope for.
Unfortunately I have a sneaking suspicion that the vintage side of the program will be undersubscribed, reflecting badly on our movement as a whole. I really hope that as many vintage racers as possible support Moto Mayhem, the last ever motocross on the Oran Park circuit, and prove me wrong.
-
I'm with Firko on this one, :o
As a rider I don't think it will be the pick of the events as Jack Hogg and Coffs Harbour feature stronger here,
But I think as a promotional event it has a lot of merit
as well as some nostalgic significance,
If my bikes survive Jack Hogg I expect to be there.
Noel
I'll probably be there even if my bikes don't survive ::)
-
If we don't get a decent turnout of riders at this event promotors will pass us off as a joke and we won't get a future chance to ride at other major events.
