I don"t know if anyone was aware but Trelleborg tyres have been made by Mitas for some time and their agreement runs out this April. They will be the same tyres but no longer be branded Trelleborg.
There will be some stocks for a wee while, so what does this all mean?
Well I would think if I was building a vintage VMXer it may have come with Trelleborgs standard and though you may no longer get the correct pattern it might be worth something to still get a tyre with the right brand name. Just a thought.

i have been led to believe that pirelli is bringing a vintage mx tyre out

Pirelli do have a Vintage range. I bought a set for my Pursang MK4 restoration.
They are MT16 Gara Cross,they come in old sizes 4.00 X 18 and 3.00 x 21.
The pattern is old style, chunky knobbly as well. Reasonably priced at $100 rear and $90 front. They are made in Brazil.
I think you can see them on the Linx website

yes but Pirelli don't sound like they came on a bike as OE, though some must have. I recall Trelleborg and Barum and then later the Bridgestones etc... on the jap bikes and even Cheng Chin if you were broke-shit they lasted though.
And of course Dunlop and even Avon on the side cars.

I'm pretty sure Pirelli's were standard fitment on a lot of Montesa's.
Stan.

I rode on a Motoz rear tyre once.. it was comparable to a flat Dunlop.
