Title: Parwan Rd motocross track
Post by: jady on February 19, 2010, 03:25:50 pm
Is the motocross track at Parwan Road, Bacchus Marsh open at present? Anyone know opening times and cost to ride there? Hoping it is a better track than Broadmeadows.
cheers Jady

Parwin is open every Saturday, Sunday & Wednesdays, you would be safe to get there between 8.30am -9.00am. If i can find their phone number i will put it up. Peter.

Thanks Peter... I'd prefer a club practise day but can't ride Sunday, and I need to get some riding in. I'll get my RM back together tonight and try Parwan Rd track tomorrow... new brake pads, new footpegs, should be good...

If you just need some bike time and you've got a crap set of tyres, go for it.

The tracks are totally unmaintained at Parwan, so it can be a good workout on a rough, rock hard surface.  If you practice there every week, it would be great prep for something like Supermoto.

Good on them for keeping it open though, it's a great place for little kids & novice adults to learn.  Lots of open space.

I ended up getting tp Parwan Rd motocross track around noon; it was hot alright, but a cool breeze blew gently across the speedway next door, picking up that sticky orange dust; now my old RM looks like an orange KTM!

By 4pm I had the track to myself and was enjoying the laps, until I ran out of fuel up the back of the intermediate track... so a nice long push back to the pits. Oh well, nobody left there to laugh at me I guess. I can't believe how much fuel an RM500 goes through!

Next time I'll get ready earlier, as they said there were a few other "old bikes" there in the morning..

Here's a google sat photo of the track: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Parwan+South+Rd,+Parwan+Victoria+3340&sll=-37.778496,145.016047&sspn=0.006275,0.012982&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FeMswP0dN2GcCA&split=0&hq=&hnear=Parwan+South+Rd,+Parwan+Victoria+3340&ll=-37.745319,144.469485&spn=0.007992,0.019205&t=h&z=16 (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Parwan+South+Rd,+Parwan+Victoria+3340&sll=-37.778496,145.016047&sspn=0.006275,0.012982&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FeMswP0dN2GcCA&split=0&hq=&hnear=Parwan+South+Rd,+Parwan+Victoria+3340&ll=-37.745319,144.469485&spn=0.007992,0.019205&t=h&z=16)

I always run out fuel/breakdown at the furtherest point of the intermediate track!  ::). It's the better track to ride on as it's more technical and most of the 'knobs' grow tired of it and go back to main track after a couple of laps. I seem to through a lot fuel there as well.
