its about right from east coast usa.i got some triple clamps from new york and air mail was 55.00 but only paid 45.00 as seller mad error
air mail from east coast is not cheep 40.00 for a pair or runners but still way cheaper than buying in aus

Try asking for first class - priority is expensive.  That stuff would fit in a flat rate envelope $17US from memory.

Yep that will go in a a small first class box for under $15 or a $12.95 flat rate USPS envelope. I had a whole Ohlins mono shock minus oil and the spring sent in two $12.95 envelopes.....yes im serious. Some sellers are good with shipping and will listen to suggestions, some are not.

I wanted to buy the Metro Racing 2010 calendar (from the US) for about $12. The calendar was good value but the quote for shipping was

United Parcel Service (1 x 1.00lbs) (Worldwide Expedited) $81.15

Paul, tell him he's dreaming :D I'm buying a nice rear axle/adjusters/spacers setup as well as a complete front spoke set for an RM and the shipping is $17US all up from Tehachapi, CA. Some sellers just don't like shipping international cause it means they have to fill out a customs form. To me this almost says they are probably illiterate and the form is beyond their capacity ;)

Hows this one.....the saga i went through looking for RM125C 59T sprockets at the end of last year.
I finally found "sprocket specialists" had them at $19 US so i wanted to order the rear, front and a DID HD chain....all up $60US...kept sending emails on shipping quote....no replies.
Got a mate in the US to ring them direct to ship to OZ....they said about $40US.
Cool i did the order but the shipping costs would show up on when invoiced....i waited and waited.....nothing!
A UPS van turned up at my place a month later with a package. I had no idea what it was and forgot about the order because i was waiting on the shipping quote.
The assumed the sprockets and chain were in the box....i hadn't officially ordered them because of the wait on the qoute.
I opened the box 2 days later curious...cool i finally had my sprockets!
Then i checked the invoice.....the pricks charged me $126.00 US for the delivery for a box half the size of a shoe box....my $100 total turned into about $220.00 Aus.
The box is still sitting on the floor with everything still in it...i just get angry whenever i look at it.
In other words F@#$ you sprocket specialists and F@#$ you UPS ripoff bastards >:(
There...i still don't feel any better!

Hi Monaro,
I recently asked a US ebay seller for a postage quote. He replied with a US$35 Quote. I sniped the item! He then he invoiced me for US$55 postage  ??? ??? ?????? I would like to fry him with destructive feedback >:( but he sells lots of treasure that  I will never obtain here in Australia ::) So what do I do now ??? ???? I then make the same choice that my darling often presents me with? when I wan't something? Even though I sometimes think I am right ???? I say, yes darling, no Darling, no sac full :P :P :P

unfortunately this doesn't help when the parts show up on your step but I've scored what I thought the odd bargain a few times only to be hit with insane postage prices and bad feedback which I've promptly reported and had removed once I show the payment had been sent and/or the neg against me is baseless.

2 times now I've simply sent the purchase price of the part and told them to bin it not relist it. It is my part after all and I watch for a little to make sure it isn't relisted. I wait the obligatory 60 days or whatever, then in the dying moments I hit them with a big negative stating the rip off. This doesn't give them a chance to hit me with bad feedback as the part was paid for in full for after all ;) little consolation I know but I'd rather throw away $50 than lose a couple of hundred ;) I'm about to do this neg feedback again to a seller who sold me a TM125 mag cover and then proceeded to reject my payment. No reason, no reply to emails, no nothing!  Fortunately I pay by paypal and even though the funds were returned the sale still goes through as completed which opens up the feedback window of opportunity ;) no matter what parts the seller has and how much I need them I'd never consider buying zac from them again.

Good on you DOC for doing that....the yanks should realise they are on a good thing with us aussies regarding our dollar and VMX parts chasing....but it seems my problems have been with companies or a wrecker type seller charging the additional crap fee or the "we no longer do express blah blah"

99% of my purchases have been great with the shipping and a couple have even squeezed 2 RM shocks in a skinny square box to save me money. They are the ones i keep going back to...A1 service.

Thats not that prick VMXR is it ?  Won item Twice, paid for twice rejected twice, then hit me with malicious bidding and got my account suspended for 3 days, left bad feedback 2 , he got both removed ?? WTF -= go figure US ebay is a law unto itself

Sometimes you get a pleasant surprise, won a cz rear hub with shipping listed as $100.40US which I'd figured was pretty standard. Next day I got a message saying it's on the way & by the way heres $15US back as the postage worked out cheaper than thought. Proves some sellers have worked out that a happy customer is more likely to be a repeat customer ;)

I have had many a pleasant experience there as well Tony, particularly when it turns out better than expected.

FACT; An Ebay buyer can no longer receive a negative Red feed strike from a seller.

I have basically been very happy with the ebay phenomenon, when measured on the whole. I have found it to be like most things, one just has to learn the ropes, it’s limitations, it’s costs and who’s who. From my 700 odd US purchases and 100 odd Australian purchases, I have created a who’s who list. Also some great relationships have formed with some US sellers, who do me much better deals on postage than in our initial dealings. I suppose they have come to appreciate a customer that pays instantly.
My main trouble on Ebay has been dealing with unscrupulous Australian sellers, that present a photo of the good side, failing to show the bad side which makes the item totally undesirable.  I only pay with pay pal now. The moment I realize that I have been dealing with a grub, I by pass Ebay and go straight to a paypal claim instead. In 2009 I lodged six claims against lying grubs and promptly won all six disputes, being "not as described".
I like to think of myself as not being that “thin skinned” or “fickle” that I would permanently burn a bridge to a source of rare VMX treasure, for the sake of  $20.
I did have a postage invoice for US$280 recently for a head and a cluch cover from the US. I wore him down to US$41 armed only with time consuming emails. All is good.

Actually come to think of it. If you haven’t experienced greed yet? Try dealing with the UK or Germany. I have had a few Horror "postal extorsion" and very poorly packed experiences from that lot. As a result I rarely give them any more of my prime non recessional Ausssie dollars. Greedy bastards. Not all of them bad experiences, just most of them.

Yes, they only ship fedex - which is probably very reliable, but geez, expensive  :o :o
They should be called Wallet Bandit instead.

This has been the case for me as well. I will always pay with PayPal. If you start up a claim "Item not as described" through PP they take the money from the sellers account and hold it until the dispute is resolved. They also have to return the postage costs to you as well. You will only be down the return costs for postage. You should send it registered so they have to sign for it.

Also got stabbed for postage from a US seller. I asked for a quote before I clicked "Buy It Now" Paid the $10 for the brake hose and the $15 postage as quoted and the prick then emailed me and said I need to pay an extra $15 on top. It was only a ktm65 front brake hose that should go in a flat envelope. Any way I paid it because KTM wanted $170 for one here and no one could make one because it is "Dash2"? fittings. I havent got it yet after 2 weeks but when I do I'll be giving him a negative and seeing if I can start a PayPal dispute.

On a better note I have had many good sellers from US with fair shipping prices. Even got a bunch of parts put into a container and unloaded in Brisbane and his brother then posted them to me here in ACT.

Only once have  I been quoted one price for shipping then invoiced another when I won.  I emailed them the original quote and they appologised saying that the guy in shipping invoiced for priority instead of flat rate.

If you get one quote before the auction ends another after you win. Query and hassle the hell out of them till they honour it.

what i want to know is, if you get the goods, but are not happy with the service/shipping costs or what ever and then open a PP dispute, do they give you the money back for post or the parts or both and do you also then have to return the item? I dont understand how that quite works.

I started a PayPal dispute for "Item not as described". A Takeasago rim that was dent free and straight according to the seller. When I unwrapped it, it had a big dent and was buckled. PayPal took the final price plus the postage amount from the seller. It is then up to the seller and the buyer to agree on a solution. Normally (hopefully) the seller should agree to give a refund and PayPal then give the buyer back his money including the postage that you originally paid. It is then up to the buyer to pay for postage to return the item to the seller. Registered is best.

I bought some forks from UK and when my 90 days was almost up for a claim and I had not received them, I started an "Item not received" claim.  The seller told me in one of the emails that PayPay took the money from him. He showed me the receipts for postage showing my address etc so I cancelled the claim and he got his money back. My forks turned up after 120 days and the package was dripping with oil so I think the postie got the shits and threw it in the corner for a few months.

I bought a DVD and when I opened it, it had a hole in where it looked like someone had stabbed it. The hole went through the cover and the disk. ?? When I went back to the picture in the listing you could make out the hole in the cover. What is wrong with some people. The dvd only cost me $4 plus $4 post but I made a claim and got my $8 bucks back and posted the dvd back to him at a cost of about $3. Its only a few dollars but It might make these peanuts think twice about ripping people off if they loose a few dollars on postage themselves.
