Title: KX250 frame wanted
Post by: Stan S on February 16, 2010, 08:48:35 am
Hi, I tried the "Wanted" section plenty of lookers but no reply's to help me find a 1974 KX250 frame and swing arm. I am willing to pay a reasonable price or maybe trade a 75 model frame and parts or both.

Stan.

Greg, there are/were practically no 74KX250s around. I've been on the lookout for a frame for one for years, to no avail. You'd have more chance of finding a KX450 frame & adjusting the engine mounts to suit.

Thanks JC, yeah I had the complete bike but it's a long story to what has happened to the frame except to say I don't have it anymore. There has been one on ebay in the States but they wouldn't sell it to me.
I can only keep trying. I do have a KX250 75/6 but I don't really want to modify it as it's is a complete basket case also. I have a KX125 frame with the frame number KX125A-000789 can anyone tell me what year this would be?

Probably a '78/'79 model as it is similar numbering to those I own.  Can you post a photo?  That would make it easy!

Regards

Ken

It is a 125 A4 (1978) frame, so quite rare.  Do you have any other parts and what are your plans for the frame?

Regards

Ken

Hi Ken, I think I have a set of forks if it is an A4. I don't have any real plans for them. I am more concerned with finding a 74 KX250 frame/swing arm.

I think Stan may be over seas at the moment?

Wolverine, you think everyone has a pre 65 husky frame sitting in their garden shed?
Your wanted add doesn't say what you are after in the description, so of course people are going to look inside to see what part your after.

And yes you will always get watchers on parts on ebay. I put items on watch myself if I own something similar so i can see what it goes for, its just part of auction life.
It's the same with house auctions, not everyone their will be a buyer.

Yes he is in South Africa and will be back soon.

If theres some frames on ebay, surely someone here can help him out if the seller wont ship to Australia. Theres guys on here who bring in bikes and large parts all the time, although i dont know the exact process you gotta go through with import duties etc.

today l was quoted $168 to have a 1972 model husky frame shipped from the US, and other times these fellows will quote you $500 to $700 to ship a frame. so who is ripping us off.

Dave, if you don't mind me asking, who quoted $168?
(I always get quoted much dearer)

Thanks kaw440, yes I think it's the one I have been trying to buy Canada in but they said no to out of Canada/USA shipping. I have been away for the last 3 weeks and when I checked my ebay today I have a new message from them saying if I organise my own pick up and packing they will sell it to me, so thats what I will do if I can organise it. Thanks for your tip about it.

Hey Jerry,

i been meaning to ask, whats the "fang the sang " reference for the Boaty?

I'll be honest. Years ago Paul Boudreau editor of Moto Cross Action magazine used write about the trials and tribulations of owning a Pursang that he had called Fang. Get it! I unashamedly stole his humour for my own evil reasons. Cheers Jerry

Thanks guys, I have been chasing this one for a while now but the shop is not interested in selling it to me unless I get someone to actually go there, pay for it and pick it up. I don't really know who I can call on to help me do this.
