OK - here is a question for the Yamaha Gurus - the yamaha clutch push lever which on some of the earlier YZs had a plastic thread - on the XS360 and 400's 76-82 the clutch push lever seems to be similar but with a metal thread? Part Number 1L9-16340-00 - does anybody have any idea whether they fit - if so it might fix the plastic breaking problem on the earlier models - obviosuly Yamaha thought so????
cheers

I've been told the XS650 one does fit but it could be the same as smaller bike. I haven't tried it. Remember to extend the little lever for a lighter feel. Cheers John.

John - ta - shall go and have a look and see if they are the same number and whether they fit. For $25US it maybe worth a try to get one I think.

actually - here is another question - the YZ middle number of thispart number is the same - 16340 as are the last 2 numbers 00 - now since the 483 on the YZ designates YZ360 does the middle number mean same part?
???

YEs same part, but may not be physically same in appearance. last 2 are the variation ( ie colour) but being the same part identifyer is its placement not necessary its likeness. IF that makes any sence.
THe ones on the Dt1 are alloy not plastic and fit up into the same cam
I have been told the RD has a similar set up and can be mounted from the outside of the case. Dont ask me what CC or year but its apparently a similar plastic fitting
BAsil - how do you extend it ?
-
Gents - looks like around the 73-78 period the clutch push lever was fairly common and maybe only the YZ had the plastic one - XS, TX, TZ and RD of varying sizes had a metal one. Freaky - some had a short arm whilst others had a longer arm - probably as John was talking about. Lots with differing model number 483, 447 etc but the same 16340 descriptor number. I think I will buy one of the longer metal ones as the price difference between these and the YZ ones is unbelievable so worth a try.

You weld a 10mm extension to the arm so it increases the leverage....lighter pull. With the p/n's, the 5 digit number will be the same for all of that type of part on all bikes but doesnt necesary mean it will be the same.

That's a guinea pig - we need a guinea pig ;). What looks like a guinea pig with long ears - a rat?

mate in Perth has ordered a "metal" push lever and corresponding housing. Going to see whether they fit, what mods are requried etc. Certainly worth investigating.
And Freaky if you promise not to come over with masking tape - we can be the Guinea pigs!!!!
