Title: Saving a tank from rust
Post by: Hardex on January 28, 2010, 06:49:09 pm
Hi all.
Any suggestions on how to keep rust out off a tank after it has been restored ?
The bike is not going to be started (coffee table bike).
Do i fill it to the top with fuel or leave it dry?
Thanks.

Shoreline,

Does that work for tanks that already have some rust in them.  If so do you apply the treatment.  I have a fireblade tank that needs some work. Bloody north queensland environment  >:(

but if it's only slightly rusty try something phosphoric based,(rust converters??),get por15 wrong ,your'e in deep do do,actually they have Deox-c rust remover, ask & see if that will do the job instead,

Pour a little two stroke oil in and roll it around (tank off the bike  ;) )
