Doc,
Don't even contemplate GMC's deal for one minute as the accommodation on the island will not be up to your expectations, you'll be setting yourself up for a big fall with this island deal ... ;) ;D

Geoff I would be 'freighting' that bloke, make sure he will accept the UPS/Fed Ex etc etc charges and provide a tracking number. Then send him a big box with a collection of dog turds in it.
The more we engage the scammers with idle chit chat the harder it is for them, it's good fun.

Lozza. I love your way of thinking. I get all these "scam"emails everyday through my business. It just wasts time & cloges the system. Anouther 1 are the magazines who want you to advertise. They are always a charity organisation or police or fire dept. When I get the phone companies ring (about 3 a day) I just hang up. Dont have time to wast with them. It only cuts into my time I can spend on this forum.
-
Ba, I love it when I get phone company's and charity organisations ringing me .
first up I start chatting about the weather, then what are THEY doing in the weekend. Tell them I do a spot of fishing blah blah ......every time they try to bring it back on track - I start on another subject ;D or get them to repeat what they have asked .... as I missed the question... several times over.
Or take the call then ask them to wait a minute as I have an incoming call - put hand piece up to radio and walk away.
-
Phone and Utilities companies ,I just tell them the " The Idiot you require is unavailable so please now fork off. Never respond to spam or suspect email as that lets them know it is a valid email address.

in about 12 years of internet-ing this is about the 5th email like this I've received at my personal email addy. Simple reason is when I first started online I opened 3 email accounts, 2 are used for signing up new accounts at various sites and also for internet offers which I know no doubt will contain spam, tracking cookies and trojans. These email accounts have had thousands of spam and unsolicited emails but I never bother going there except to maybe retrieve a password for a new sign in. I don't use outlook express as many potential threats will target this address book in the first instance and all of your contacts will then be on said spamming lists. Occassionly I do get the hurry up to purchase some viagra from Canadian Meds but that's about the worst of it. You are right Tim, don't reply to these emails. If you feel the need to respond for some obscure reason then use an alternative address not linked to anything personal ;)

I think they're great, it's a way of getting a viagra powered rolex on your credit card to help out someone from south central congo get away from the assins that killed the foriegn finance minister - there should be more of it !
-
That is so funny oldfart. :DI must try it. The trouble is that when they ring is when I am flat out window tinting (cant stop once you start) or under the dash of a car. >:(
-
This is the best way to deal with it by far....

Someone told me about an experience with telemarketers trying to get him to change communications companies, the telemarketer had a phrase like "is that OK/alright with you?" if at any point you say "yes" they record that and use it as proof you signed up to their company. When you get a bill from XYZ communications it will cost $150 for you to get out of the contract. Which I suspect is a good earn, better than the small margin on phone calls. If you do listen to a telemarketer never say "YES".
ba just have a word document template cut and paste the scammers details in there takes 10 seconds .Oldfarts approach of telling them how your syattica is playing up with the weather and fruit preserving is a good one ;D
