I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival on the market of the new 661 "Droid" integrated neck-brace/armour combo, so I could buy one for the new racing season. (http://www.cyclenews.com/articles/industry-news/2009/11/04/neck-protection-let-s-talk-about-it/5). When I enquired at my local bike shop the other day I was told a story, that if true, is stranger than fiction . Apparently , the shipment of "droids" made it all the way to the docks in Australia, only to have a product recall because the name "droid" is a registered trademark/copyright of the guys who made the Starwars movies. I am told that the name was moulded into the plastic, so it is not as simple as just replacing a decal with a different name . But you would have thought that someone would have done their homework , before choosing the product name ???.

Don't quote me on this , but I am fairly certain the bike shop I went to, told me $399 . I also think someone had them listed on US ebay for just over $300USD, but they have now disappeared of course. Maybe if anyone bought one of the originals with the "Droid" logo, they would now be a collectors item ;).
