Title: wonderful world
Post by: paco on January 14, 2010, 06:21:53 pm
isn't it funny when you first discover ebay  " All those bits and peices for sale;from bikes you dont see advertsed in the usual papers.I can remember getting up at the break of dawn on a thursday,to trundle down to the news agents to get the trading post:sometimes the papers were out the front, with no one around.A feeling of guilt as we slid one from under the ties, always ripping it a little.I'd always leave the money on top of the papers and wonder if they ever got it.The smell of ink. Then there was saturdays Age'I'm going to stop now;to wipe a nostalgic tear from my eye.All I can say is"its a beautiful world and god bless every one in it.paco

The trading post was better before it was put into alphabetical order.  You had to read the whole thing.

I even organised my days off for a Thursday so I could get the Trading post.  What happened to all the BSA Bantams that used to be for sale for $60.

Now that the Trading Post is only available online I reckon it's only a matter of time before one of the big hitters like eBay swallows it up to get it out of the way.

A couple of other Aussie online trade sites have gone that way over the years.

I am pretty sure that Telstra and Aust Post are owners of the trading post thats why its online and Aust post get the kick backs from the postage.

Used to go down to Seaford where they printed the Trading Post. Earliest you could get them off the press was 2:00AM, $20.00 a copy !
