G'day viewers just wondering what mat do I use if I was to make a seat base out of fibreglass ::) jimson

If your going to make amould then the item use chopped strand as it's cheaper. A good technique is to wrap either glad wrap or the brown packing tape over what you want to glass and wet lay-up directly on that

Lozza the chopped strands are they the fury like bits your talking about I've used that before in the floor of a car for rego but I thought the mat would be stronger :-\ jimson

It comes in different 'weights' and the thickness of the item and how well it's layed up makes it resiliant not the actual weave. Although you can lay up the cloth in a 'bi-axial' pattern one layer straight, next at 45deg, next straight.next 45 deg etc etc which is sort of what chopped strand is doing anyway.

i'm back, ;D,(fugging compootas :-\),use either Chopped Strand Mat,or Single Strand Mat for the layups,required thickness depends on seat supports,your actual body weight,whatever!,back the mat with a final layup of woven cloth for strength/looks,basically csm/ssm has random strength,woven cloth is unidirectional in strength,hth? :P
