Would love to see the footage. I wonder if they tried it on his helmet :o

Ha.. just a little more compact nowdays. You'd want a good neck to put that thing on your head. ;)

Looks more like a jet pack.

Appearantly wearing hidden cameras and wire taps back in those days was a fairly risky line of work! ;D

And I thought some of the things I did was primative.
Around 1990 we did some race cam footage of DVMCC's track at Newtown.
I rode my 89 KX 250 with my mate Dave on the back holding his Dad's Beta video which was a huge camera by today's standards.
The first attempt was pretty woeful. It mostly filmed the sky & ground. The wind was blowing into the microphone which drowned out Dave swearing & cursing me "Bloody Morris, slow down fork you, I don't want to drop me Dad's camera"
So the second attempt I slowed up a bit, rolling the doubles etc ;D had to take my helmet off too as it kept bumping the camera.
Still has a bit of wind in the mike but it didn't turn out too bad.
Did some footage of Castella Vinduro recently, the modern camera's you can hold in your left hand while your riding ::).
Those hi-falooting camera's for your helmuts are for woose's ;D

In that day getting one of those throat or butt hole camera probe thingo's at the medical clinic would have really really been HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

I'm guessing that that backpack would have been full of valves and it has been placed way above his centre of gravity to get it out in the air in an attempt to keep it cool and not set fire to young Mr Smiths back :o ;) ;D
