They sound like good changes.
Just enter the date into your log book before you leave home.
You can have either 45 or 90 day log books.
You don't have to be on a club run, you can just go out for a ride anytime you like.
This would suit me with my XT500 as I would only want to take it out for the ocassional ride.
45 days is nearly once a week which would do me nicely.

Has the previous / current club rego been okay to go interstate with?

GMC I asked that question as well regarding interstate runs and waiting on an answer.
I have an HJ Monaro Coupe that i use once or twice a week @ around $600+ that sits around most of the year,an 05 suzuki C50 Boulevarde....the same,an 06WR450F....the same....with my rego's passing $2000+ a year for something that i can only use one at a time.
I have to consider this new logbook way for the munro as a way of saving money....and i'm sure insurance will come down.
I wish they would change it to maybe paying say $1000.00 per year and transfering the rego to any vehicle in your name.......but that would be a pipe dream for Vicroads and this goverment.
At least this way is a step in the right direction and I give Vicroads a tick for at least listening to clubs etc.
I'll see what i can find out about the interstate side of things.

Hi Guys,
down here in tassie we have SI rego which allows you to ride/drive your vehicle 52 times a year for a fraction of the rego cost $195.00 per year makes it easier to afford regos for vehicles that just sit around all you need to do is fill out your log book before you leave home each time. You dont have to only ride/drive once a week you can ride every day until your 52 days are up.Only other stipulation is that your car/bike be 30 years old.
I think it is a great idea my 750/4 Honda has SI rego and I may only ride it a couple of times a year but I can afford to have it sitting in the shed.

Cheers

The proposed scheme sound exactly like the Historic/LH Drive conditional rego scheme that we currently have in SA, except the age requirement is 30 years.

I have had a few of my old Honda bikes registered under the SA scheme at about $100 pa. I currently have my 1964 S600 Honda (car) registered and it costs $115 for 12 months, and you have the option of paying 1, 2 or 3 years at a time.

I will be see my club rego officer, in the near future to see if he will allow me to put the XT500C that I use in reliability trials on historic rego, and I may have problems as the rules do not allow much in the way of modifications, and the XT is far from standard.

There has also been a clamp down on the membership requirements for clubs here. It seems that a lot of people were joining classic/historic clubs just to get the "cheap" rego and never attending any club meetings or events. The federation bought in a rule that members must attend at least 3 meetings / events per year to be eligible to have a vehicle on historic rego, and we are required to sign an attendance log at each meeting / event. If you don't attend the required number you will not have you rego endorsed the following year and without the club endorsement your rego is invalid.

The report says they are considering the changes as the log book system seems to be working in S.A.
They are also changing to 30 year cut-off, but phasing it in over the next 5 years so no vehicle will suddenly become ineligible.
It also says "for vehicles on the Victorian road system"
One thing on my bucket list is to ride my XT to the Muster in S.A.
It will be a bugger if I can't cross the border with this system.
