There is an WR 500 AE roller just come up on eBay in Wide Bay Qld. No engine or seat and needs a major resto. I am bidding on it but don't want to spend too much on a roller (also garge running out of space ;D) so wont be going too high. There is a 83 WR 125 also from same seller that has the bottom end of the engine still in the frame but is missing the top end. Everything else looks to be there but needs major resto - the guards are shot. Good project for a lighter weight gentleman ;D ;D ;D

join the cue kane. I parted with my 85 WR240 a few years back and wish I still had it apart from the typical Husky waterpump/sidecover cancer, that was repaired several times with Devcon. Next time I'll be looking for an aircooled Husky to fill the void.

will have a 450 desert master next month if any help

Kanes now in good shape
We sold him a race ready 83 XC500 in excellent condition.

thanks shoey! hanging out for it to get here! will take it to a few modern mx meetings in rocky this year. (over 40 class) LOVE racing the new bikes. on my 430 i could sometimes holeshot and then hang on for 2 laps up front till i was rooted and fight my way to the back of the pack! the back of my jersey reads" you are behind a 26 year old bike"

GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Hey kane, what model 430 are you running?after owning an 83 xc250 for around three years i picked up a 83 wr430 ,had a bit of a run on it but it was to rough/loose to ride hard,so i have it down for a rebuild, just wondering what i can expect of this bike? if it's anything like the the xc i cant wait, i rather big bores though and the young blokes claimed the 250. any info apreciated cheers

430 is a great engine, strong & torquey but revs better than a 500. A bit toey with CR internal rotor ignition for me, I run WR or XC ignition with 13/53 final gearing on mine. I have a Mossberg reed valve, Pro Form pipe with modified KX500 muffler on the current bike, it's strong but super smooth, just the thing for a fat old bald bloke like me! Love the 430 engines.
Cheers,
K

Bigk in the short ride i had i found the motor the same fairly strong and smooth(powerwise)did you fit the mossbarger aftermarket are they still available ? how did you find the fit and performance of the proform pipe ,did you get it in aus?plenty of questions cheers
-
Both Mossberg reed valve & Pro Form pipe easy enough to get, although I got them from USA. Pipe required trimming of the RHS front engine plate, and a small tweek under the tank for clearance. The reed valve required trimming of the air boot, about 30 minutes work in total.
Cheers,

hi, i had a 430 and it was a stump puller off idle and revs also. all i did was a set of boyesen reeds. i have put boysens in every 2 stroke i have owned and have always been amazed with a smoother bottom end and cleaner revs up top. in every single bike! i have ridden an rm400 a yz465 and a kx500 and the 430 was better than all. i have a problem with my new husky 500 at the moment and i am hoping its as good as the 430 when its going.
-
yeah thanks kane for the info, i'll definetly chase up those boyeson's(always a worry having reeds so old in a rebuilt bike, ,cheers
