Aren't you in Japan ...that goes to show Aust Post isn't any faster than the last issue.. ::)
I believe strikes are happening midnight tonight in Aust Post :(
Oh well, will have to be satisfied with the ADB Year book for a bit longer, geez there are some gifted people in endurance racing photography scene. :P
cheers, enjoy your little man time ;D

Good to hear you have received yours so quickly Marc.
A little side note to the recent mailout of VMX. In spite of the fact that many personnel were in fact on strike at our local Australia Post business centre/hub, a core group of people were still working and obviously made sure that the mail did in fact get away quickly. I am truly impressed with these Aussie Post workers and their "can do" attitude. ;D

My VMX arrived (Gladstone, Queensland) on Christmas eve and yes it certainly is a great issue.
Very interesting stories and the photos of Mick Andrews and that TLR Hi Boy Honda in the UK are fabulous.
I'm wondering if what they are seeing over there (people wanting to buy ready-to-ride Twinshock bikes instead of repairing/restoring themselves) will happen here.
-
FUF, I reckon there's a market here for 'turn key' bikes, but only a small one.
And agreed on Issue #40: Great articles, esp the Noguchi. :)
-
Bill Brown in the UK and Eric Cook in the USA are selling ready to ride 490 Maicos and Gerry Lisi is selling already assembled Triumph 650 Metisse 'Steve McQueen Replicas'. I also believe you can buy a brand new CCM replica from Mark Cook and ready to race Cheney B44s from Simon Cheney. These are extremely expensive, high end bikes that are priced out of the financial reach of most VMX racers and collectors. If there is someone with the readies to be able to afford a new repro/replica, the import costs are of little concern. I know of only one Bill Brown 490 Maico and none of the pre 65 tackle being imported at all. That would tell me that there'd be little call for that kind of thing here purely on a financial basis.
Replicating ready to go trials bikes like those shown in VMX #40 for the extremely slim Aussie market would be financial suicide. Very few are restoring trials bikes in comparison to motocross or enduro tackle so I'd envision a lack of interest on top of the financial barrier.

Did the pilgrimage south east & return of 1000km to have Christmas with mum and dad. :P
Spotted VMX #3 number plates heading the opposite direction too :P
With the VMX mag tucked safely in the front passage door.We where set for the driver to keep his eye lids open for a while longer, with me reading out loud the VMX Japan ACTS:Samurai Spirit and South African VMX articles.
It was real refreshing to read about other countries new beginnings into the VMX fold and learning of the structure/class of bikes that are available to them.
Great reading, and didn't even get the old car sickness while flicking the pages ;D
Great to see VMX preservation worldwide ;D
Love the odd stories like the Mettco thrown in for good measure 8)
thanks for the add AJ :-*
Happy VMXing 2010

yeah at 30K plus for the Ricky and CCM I would say they are pricey regardless of who signed them.
with the 74 CCM would be nice to see a more affordable option.
