Great rider. I got tired watching the video!!

Great video. Four bangers are boring fart machines in comparison to that. How good was the dirt?? 8)
The kid reminds me of Ben Coleman (ex junior champ down here in Vic)... absolutely pinned & whipping it over everything in sight!

Yeah, it did sound nice and clean.
Another bike that stood out for me for running nicely was one of Firko's Maicos at the Coffs Nats. I can't remember what it was, 400 maybe??, but he did say it had a PVL ignition.
Regardless, it sounded sooooooooooooo good!! 8)

Ahh Ben Coleman. Could run a whole new thread on Ben and riders just like him. Such a waste.
And look at the legacy that Bubba will leave behind, the Bubba Scrub. Just what you need in a race is the bloke in front of you making his bike a foot wide one minute and 6 foot the next, and in the air and on a jump.

Awesome! Grouse to watch. We need to introduce some of the Yank rules into our own racing....

I'm hearin' ya'!
The last time I raced moderns full on I was stupid enough to do it on a 125 which put me in with the ultra-stupid lites class. The race that stands out for me is being stuck behind this guy on a KX 250 F who would slow down just before every jump then at the last second gas it up and 'scrub it'. Every jump, every lap, for seven laps! There was a parade of us lined up behind this clown who just weren't game to put any passing moves on him (or go anywhere near him) whilst the leaders were just getting further and further away..... ???

That's my old 350 squarie you're talking about Tony and she is indeed a special bike and sounds unlike any other Maico except for Mick Hockleys similar bike. It must be a 350 thing. Good jetting on the Bing, correct timing and PVL ignition makes all the difference, as it does on any 2 stroke of course.
In recent times she'd seriously dropped off the power so I popped the top off her last week expecting to find her in need of a major rebuild (last fully rebuilt in '92) but she was hunky dory. The power loss was due to a blown base gasket from a broken barrel stud and worn out rings. The bore and piston are fine with a nice golden colour on the piston. A new set of rings, a new stud and a gasket kit and there's another 10 years in her. I'm thinking of entering her for the Nats for one last go in pre 70 if the Cheney isn't sorted.
