A new add for a 1981 MC490 is currently EVILBAY and looks pretty good if someone is lusting after one.
Go to Aussie ebay at;
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/maico-1981-490_W0QQitemZ330188423631QQihZ014QQcategoryZ102690QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
And this one ain't just north of the Murray so hopefully it should be safe. If anyone knows the reserve or any other details share it with the class.
See you at the back of the pack............... ;)

I bought my '84 from this guy, nice guy to deal with. He also has a '98 500 maico that he super motards.
-
I was talking to him last week and the reserve is reasonable considering the prices some other people have been paying or sellers dreaming of getting.

".... the reserve is reasonable considering...."
Past in at $9101 "reserve not met" :o

It's a 490 Maico!

Did anyone end up buying the 490 in Qld that was on ebay? - it seemed like a decent bike even if the numbers weren't quite right ???

I am not so sure that it is a modified Alpha 1 frame . I have an '81 GS250 twinshock with a frame number that starts with 250 . I think that the bike listed on Ebay is an '81 GS490 motor in an '81 GS 250 frame . The USA sites that list Maico I.D numbers don't seem to list all of the GS model frame & engine numbers . All of the '81 490 GS frames that I have seen start with 251 , but they are identical to the GS 250 frames except for the frame number .
