Title: Works Performance Shock Rebuild
Post by: montynut on December 12, 2009, 11:08:48 pm
Found a topic a week or so ago with a link to a Dirt Bike article describing how to rebuild standard Works Performance Shocks (posted by Firko) now I can not find it again :(. Looks reasonably straight forward (famous last words :o). Any who :D the article does not indicate the shock oil weight but does say to use Works Oil. I can not find anywhere to buy it in Oz so am considering using Belray. Any recommendations?

Any suggestions on oil weight? I want to return the shocks to as close as possible to original. I was going to use 5wt which I believe is standard for Works Performance. Can anyone help?

Don't really want to send them away for rebuild as I have been quoted $300 plus postage at two shops. If it comes to that I would rather put that money towards new YSS.

The shocks are for a Monty VB360 so they get worked pretty hard.

Send " Works Performance " an email  with your question, they will advise on oil wieght to use.

5wt would be the best to use, thinner oils don't fade as much and i'd recommend proper shock oil over fork oil.
