gents , i just aquired a TS 400 it has a yz front end on it which i will be giving to my mate, i would like to know the year modle if someone could help , eng # TS4003-13555 FRAME # TS4003-13603,  i would appreciate any information , will a TM 400 pipe fit? and where to look for a front end , if its to hard its up for sale(its a runner) cheers bonehead

cheers , dont know what to do with yet but i think i might turn it into a stree tracker(flat track looking bike for the road).  ;D

Bonehead, a TM400 pipe will fit. The forks on the early J model are 34mm which are the same visually as most early TS250/400's from the '73 K model thru to the '76 A models. Kawasaki also sported 34mm forks on their 250 and 350 trailies from the early to mid '70's, the suzuki wheels will bolt up fine to these kawa forks also ;)

i take it this modle had plenty of power maybe i should pre 75 race it. ???

errr..it had much the same power as a DT400 or a 350 Kawa but nothing earth shattering. I'd reckon dirt track or bitumen is the go as they're bloody Heavy and somewhat slow to turn. ;)

Surprisingly the engine is the heaviest part, although the frame isn't the lightest. But that's nothing bulk HP can't fix, and that's the ace in the sleeve of the TS beautiful liquid torque. Just have to decide how much you want, 40 is easy. Over 50HP would require some work.
If you wish to race it, just buy decent suspension to begin with as they desparately need it.

Street tracker it, sounds like this at the lights would break up the normally mundane commute. Note down pipes only!
