I don't think it's out of left field at all, it's a good question. Older Speedway bikes coming up for sale are pretty rare in OZ, but a little more common in the old dart. I've got a couple of 1950 - 1970 bikes that I've just started to restore and as you would expect there is more gear available in the UK.

An old bloke i work with used to go to the speedway at the exhilbition grounds in brisbane every friday during the 50's. Surely all that machinery hasn't dissappeared over the years.

Looks like i'll just stick with what i've got! Just need to start up a vintage flat track club, anyone interested? Maybe we could do an exhibition round at the speedway meets.

QLD solo champs was awesome! couldn't believe the spectator turn out, nor the mozzies  :-\

Well done to the guys running it as the format was great. Even the little guy was entertained for longer than usual.

The racing was pretty good to with some closely contested heats including the current U21 world champ being pushed to the line. Event Jason Crump was there but not riding due to injuries.

Yes was a good day, except for  State solo final when there was a race stoppage due to rider down. Unfortunately one rider was excluded for "causing the other to crash" but in my humble opinion and many others ,he was holding a tight corner line in a close and hot final, and was hard done by. Never the less the top three were all young Aussies that all have rides with the Speedway Leagues in the UK and Europe putting us in good stead to claim more world titles  :)
