does the 'e' mean a 1985 model? I'm pretty sure the 'd' was 84.

Nah, '84 was A2 then '85 was B1 I think.............  :-\
no idea after that.
The bit that throws me is the '6' in the engine number. I thought they all went KX500E-...........
Maybe it's a typo?
Either way, I don't have an answer for you.  ::)

Ah, yes. Then you're probably right. Who else would give each capacity a different model designation in the same year...........  ::)
