All,
There has been a smattering of discussion regarding FC2010, but to date there does not appear to have been a centralised point of organisation. I am happy to take on that role.
If you know of anyone who is already in organisational mode, please let me know asap.
The event will be held on 17/18/19th September (not 11/12 as shown on the attached poster) and will be centred around a MXdeNations for veterans on twin-shocks. There will also be support events for riders not being part of a "national" team.
Basically, the format for the MXdN will be;
17th Sept Sign-on and scrutineering (social event pm ::) )
18th Practice + 2 motos (more socialising :o 8) )
19th 2 motos
A team will consist of 3 (minimum) or 4 (maximum) riders, 3 of whom must be over 40 years old. The 4th rider must be over 35 yo.
The event is sanctioned by ACU, and an event license can be arranged (approx A$20). Entry fee will be around A$220 (current exchange rate), but that will pale into insignificance compared with the other costs (such as the "socialising" ;) )
I have done some preliminary costings and am happy to exchange with those truly interested in going to this historic venue and riding it before it is closed forever.
If you wish to be part of the "Aussie Assault", please contact me on my e-mail at [email protected] and post a reply here so that others can guage the interest and join in. Something like this can involve people at all levels; race managers, mechanics, caterers, cheers squad, photographers, publicity agents etc etc etc
Cheers
Chris

No sidecars......Walter just wanted to support the event and got in touch with Dave King..
-
And if you really want to get a feel for the event, go the MXTrax...particularly the "associated threads" section...you will get an idea of the enormity of it..

I've just been reading the report on the '09 Twinshock Cup at Farleigh Castle in the latest Classic Dirtbike and it looks like an awesome meeting. It would be well worth going to next years event especially with Leisky being there.
-
I was spectating. It was a really good event, but a big hole was blown in the racing on saturday [the only day I was free] with a spinal injury. When I last heard the guys involved were making full recoveries. I'm going along for 2010. It's set in one of the prettiest places in Britain.
-
This is a must do for me and am very keen. Nice one Chris.I will be in touch!
-
I'm thinking of going. I have to do some business in the UK at sometime next year so why not take in Farleigh Castle.
Now all I need is the money to go. :-\
-
ken Ogden and John Taylor who ride in Nzud when on holiday do all pre 65 races in europe and rate farlie Castle as the pommy must do race, nev Combs from nzud mixed it up with fast boys in twinshock to they slammed him and cost him a collar bone, real pretty on the videos.
-
its realy humbling to read you guys are considering travelling half way across the globe to take part with us. It would be dead cool to have a team from Australia not only to have a crack at the Des nations but to give jeff leisk some home support. Bikes will be the stumbling block but if you post on www.mxtrax.co.uk vintage forum you will probably find bikes to ride there. Or if you want to pack a shipping container/or fly your own bikes{its been done before} i can help with the unloading and storing this side and delivering to farleigh.
2010s event will probably be the biggest mx event{modern or old} in the UK and we should have 10,000 spectators with ease. In 2009 the south africans took home the "furthest travelled" title, can you beat them in 2010???????????????????????

neville raced farleigh in 05 BUT he busted his collarbone in france 2 weeks later. I was there.

for the viper boys dont forget we have a 125/250 pre 1990 and a 500cc pre 1990 class.
-
Dave, thanks for the support your end. Response so far has been luke warm, but with Xmas approaching and the holiday/silly season upon us, thoughts of September 2010 tend to be pushed to the back of the mind. I will rev things up again in the New Year.
If worst comes to worse, we might have to find an ex-pat or two in the UK to re-affirm their citizenship :D
-
JohnnyO and 090 and I have entered for Farleigh. Any-one else interested?
-
Pity its on the same day as the classic des nations, Jeff

Pity its on the same day as the classic des nations, Jeff
haha thats funny :D
-
what do you mean by that?
-
MM, I suspect that Jeff is referring to the event which is held in Europe each year (Classic Motocross Des Nations) and involves 4 riders per team, with riders allocated to specific vintages depending on age (60+ yo riders on pre 65, 50+ yo on pre-70's etc). I believe that the event is being held in Italy this year, but not sure of the date. If its the same as the Farleigh event, it is a pity (read: I may have convinced the chancellor of exchequer to allow me two events o.s.)
-
what do you mean by that?
sorry I thought that there was only one MXdN and that its at Farleigh this year.
So Farleigh is not the regular MXdN that happens every year?
-
i think there is a classic des nations and
a twin shock des nations
both with riders from all over
i know ther are some guys in finland spewing they cant go to farleigh as
its on the same day ;D
classic tends to cater more for pre 75/70/65/60 etc etc
twin shock is basically what it states ;)
later evo and pre 85 converted to twin shock
eg rm500 cr480 etc
will be a great event 8)
-
Although i say it myself the classic MXdN is a minnow of a event compared to the farleigh MXdN. farleigh is more of a Goodwood revival meeting{google it} Dont know if any of you guys know him but steve johnston a professional speedway rider from perth and sponsored by jeff leisk has entered on a 490 maico in the under 40s race. The event has just taken a massive leap in securing a non mx uk household name as a title sponsor that will see the event being the biggest and best mx event in the UK and possibly the largest vintage event in the world. Leisky is coming with quite a entorage and family of supporters so you guys who have entered will have your very own supporters to cheer on team australia.
-
sounds great will be a top event
i cant wait ;D
-
I'd love to go and ride! Anyone know whats involved?? Hmm...MAYBE someone over there could lend me a bike. :'(
