I helped to uncrate this machine in 1974 when it first arrived in Australia, and now it is finally in my possession.
Very pleasing, and long overdue.
It is a 50cc ISDT replica.

You've gotta love the above test riders desert boots. Can you still buy them?
-
Yes, That is the bike. Trail & Track Magazine did an article on it at the time.

I still have a pair of NOS desert boots in my wardrobe! :o No water stains or split soles - they are a thing of great beauty. They're sitting right below my lumberjacket....... :D
-
You're a fashion icon Can Am! I'll bet you've got a pair of Amco Bogarts and a Miller western shirt in there too!
Have you given any thought to how much for the swingarm?
-
Read the "owning problems" At least there are no "built-in obsolescence" but there are "extractors needed" on/in the ignition ???
Cheers

this is the bike on show in November at the all british day this year

It was the first swm imported to Australia, my friend was involved with that side of things.
-
who bought SWM in? was it Burrows or eurotread?
-
Why a 50? Unless it was just for fun, I would have thought the 125 would have been a better option.
-
I was told, l think it was Eurotread.

The smaller ISDT bikes were all based on exploiting the contemporary rule structure that gave smaller bikes more generous
ie lower, average speed / time requirements.
Beautiful bike.

I meant why bring a 50 into Oz.

I believe it was a guy named Brian Nankervis in Melbourne,as I am pretty sure he brought Brissoni out to promote them at the time

The first two SWM machines that came to Australia (the 50cc ISDT machine and a 125cc MX machine) were imported via the Hartwell MCC through my connections.
Because of this the factory did send out the rider Brissoni to compete at Christmas Hills. He brought another MX machine with him.
Murray Nankervis was the Hartwell MCC President at the time.

Here's the rest of the test

A bit about the 125 & Brissoni. Would anyone have the test from the November 1975 T&T?
