Heading to Brisvegas in December from Nth Qld. Work happy to shift house contents but baulk at the 13 motorcycles, assorted frames, engines, shockies, pipes etc. Thinking of a Thrifty hire truck. Good idea or not???? can't think of much else. Intersting is that they say I must hire for 5 days. If I pack and drive to Brisvegas and leave in a depot there about $2200-2500. If I drive, dump, return at Mackay somewhere between $900-1200. Any advice?

You probley thought of this, if you have room buy a contaner. Then you can unpack as you like, then sell it.
If you get a good deal on one, we're (Sunshine coast MCC) looking to buy one for Conondale.

hi rosco i used to work for orix truck rental in syd dont know how far you are from townsville but orix have depo there.they sometimes need trucks relocated to other branches,like rocklea in bris and they do it without the return price,can hire trucks from 1 ton utes to road train specs from 4 hours to 5 year lease might be worth a try if your close to townsville.even try them for somethig ng tha might have to go back to syd or melb rocklea is closer than townsville.cheers good luck with the moove gary ps most truck hire need to move trucks from branch to branch but wont tell you just try a few and see. ::)

just something further you could also try truck dealers as they sell a lot of stuff that needs to be transported. moving a truck through truck moves from nth qld to bris is about $1000 plus i used to work for them in bris.a motor dealer would rather pay nothing just another avenue you could try.i used to work for villawood truck sales in syd and did more driving to bris or melb than i did detailing.just make sure the truck is regoed as it is illeagle to move freight on trade plates good luck cheers gary

Why not try one of the furniture removal companies that you load and unload yourself.
They drop a shipping container on your footpath, you load it, they deliver it to your new home, then you unload it, they take the container away.
Easy Peasy !!

Had an intersting trip down from Mackay. Metisse, CCM and Maico on the hilux with 7 motors and 2 huge boxes of parts plus a 12 x 6 covered in trailer with 95CCM, Hagon Jap, 2valve Jawa, Weslake Elstar, Junior Speedway, 400 Square maico. 4 frames,12 wheels assorted tools gear etc. Cruised nicely at 95 and wandered everywhere over 100. Didn't like the drive in the dark as the trailer tipped the hilux up at the front and every bastard thought I was on Hi-beam. Most intersting was timing the lights through Brisbane as if she got stuck in traffic half way up a small hill I think she'd be going backwards. Probably not the easiest way to go but definetly the mist economical.Got my benches/tools included as an "Educational Library" Removalists a big rip-off when they wanted $2200 for the extra 10.3 cubic meteres the Govt said we wernt entitled to. Now all safely sorted in South Brisbane just in time for me to have my back op. Had a spinal laminectomy and fusion with 8 pins, 6 screws and 4 rods to assist the degenerating discs on the 19th have have just been released. (sound like an inmate in the big house?) Bloody sore and spending much time looking at the insects on the ceiling. While surgeon says it was a success I have quiet a great deal of numbness in the right thigh. (hopefully it may subside)They released me after taking out the 30 odd staples in the back. Can't complaion, it was going to be a wheelchair if it wasn't done. so I am happy to be awake and walking, albiet slowly and painfully. If I'm going to have a ride again I may need an electric start. Came across Shoreline at his Cleveland shop and tried to relieve him of the Wasp. Have instructed son to save hard and buy as a recovery gift, gotta look foward to something. Imagine all the polishing I can do between now and the end of March when they will probably send me back to work. Catchya, hope all is well in the West.

Good luck to ya Rossco. My mate Mike had a similar op in the US three months ago and he's starting to get fidgetty about getting on board his flat trackers again which is something we haven't heard for a couple oif years so the op must be a success. You've just got to have the bikes and yourself ready for Kamp Kevlar at CD7. Hopefully my ankle and knee will be done by then as well so we can all sit around comparing operation scars!

I had four prostate exams in two weeks, needed a second and third and fourth opinion, was quite satified at the end!!!lol and not one of them bought me a drink

Rosco the numbness subsided a bit with me ,but, still about now years later after 3rd batch of ops. You really dont notice it OK, ;) Cheers Tim754

Was talking to Rosco last week and he was in good spirits but full of laxatives so wouldn't laugh much >:(. Don't know when he is getting out of hospital. When he does he making Wellington Point his home. Darcy

Thanks all for the best wishes. Back home now and living at Wellington Point. When mobile will be joining BMCC and QVMX and helping out with anything I can. Plans are to restore either the hagon or elstar or a "special ccm" in a jawa frame, to ease back into the sport. Will certainly be making sure the elbow is fit for CD7 even if everything else is not up to pace. Had first physio session this morning and have slept for the rest of the day, amazing what 30 years of body abuse can do. Thanks for the call Darcy, it was the hi-light of an otherwise crap day. Hit me up with an enema, a tablet laxative and then a laxative syrup. Just great having things projectile from all orifices at once; humbling experience, felt sorry for the nurse with the cleanup job, I reckon my missus would have gone for the pressure washer.
