Title: Theres a strange hole in my motor
Post by: trailietrash on November 15, 2009, 03:43:50 pm
Does anyone know why there would be a hole in the rear top engine mount on this TS125A motor? see pic below...

never seen anything like it on a TS125 ??? In that position beside the tacho drive my guess is someones idea of transmission ventilation :-\ but why they thought they needed it is beyond me ???

No, there is no connection into the oil pump housing on the crankcase from where the hole is caps and the hole is not factory as there are tell tale signs of being drilled at a slight angle with an old blunt drill. But Doc, you may be close with the transmission ventilation theory. There is a problem with the gear shifting in that I am unable to engage a gear.
The gear lever is welded to the spindle (well known Aussie cocky bike surgery)
Maybe the previous owner may have been trying to attempt keyhole surgery as well :D ;D

I'll try to tap it and plug it but I need to split the cases as the oil injection had also been removed for an unknown amount of hours run.

Surprisingly it runs and sounded quite crisp, then had a lean running idle increase then stall after about 30 seconds of runtime and two blats of the throttle.

Very promising  ;)
