it's straight forward, place your vote and lets see if we can swing Ajay and the VMX Crew !
Disclaimer:- the opinions raised in this poll are not nessessary the opinion of Hoony (even my own opinion ) so lighten up . this is lighthearted humour only.
-
havent they all been held in vic isnt it time to share nsw or old should have it , dont be greedy you vic boys
-
if any body needs help then barrabool certainly needs the support of the vmx community
-
Wonthaggi or Barrabool would be great. Didn't really like Broadford as the pits/display areas are not really as accessible/open as the other CD venues. But I think it's time to go to Connondale or somewhere up that way. I'd really prefer to see something like what Ray did - have it on a great big paddock somewhere, maybe on the side of a hill so the tracks can be a bit up and down...
-
I think that is about time NSW or QLD had a turn. Although I don't think that many Victorians will travel as a lot seem to think that the world ends at Albury/ Wodonga . That is , of course, until they become pensioners & buy a caravan to torment everyone on Australia's highways by travelling a 20kmh below the speed limit ;D . I think that Queenslanders were in the majority of competitors at this years Coffs Nats , which is probably a good indication of which state the most keen vmxers live in (on the east coast anyway , as Coffs is fairly central). So I would be happy if it was in NSW , somewhere north of Sydney, so I don't have to drive almost the length of the country to get there again.
-
nothing is certain.... :D
-
CD5 could be on Thursday Island for all I care. I still wouldn't miss it for quids.
-
It could be anywhere , as long as there is dirt and fun , VMX and no politics.
-
How about Qld?....there are VMX riders up here to ya know ;)
-
i know of a really nice disused track in northern nsw near kempsey.its about a ten minute drive west of the town.it would be perfect for every vintage class ....even the pre 65 class.the last time it was used was in 1999 when the thumper nationals came to town.i raced the 250 clubman class that day and had the time of my life.there are no man made jumps just pure natural terrain mx at its best.... :o
-
I want to see it stay in VIC (where it all began).
And I want annual events in other states.
Next year I want to go to CD5. And the Classic in QLD. And I want a huge event every year in NSW. (Don't want much do I? ;D)
Just like the Classic is not going to be in SA, TAS or VIC anytime soon ;), Classic Dirt needs to stay down south.
-
I was talking to one of the comity guys at our club round at Barrabool today and mentioned CD5 and if he had any plans for it. He did suggest if they did have it at Barrabool they could possibly set up a vinduro track down the gully behind the main track!
We rode the full Oceania track today at our club round, it was fantastic but very taxing on my aging body.

-
DJ, I remember tracks and terrain like that and I miss it! :'(
However I also remember that shit house weather in the back ground and I don't miss that at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where abouts is that track?
Brent
-
Brent, it looks like Otaki Feb' 2004, round 3 NZ vintage champs...wait here's a link to the report(scroll down a ways) http://vmx.livewire.gen.nz/newsarchive5.htm
Mud...what mud?
-
C'mon Hoony i would have voted for the first 4 ,but 1 vote only it's not enough. Nice track DJ .
-
Eno, always the right answer ;D. Yep Otaki was the place. And yeah Brent it was wet and muddy for half the track and the other half was sand based so that was very cool. The sand was the hilly section. But hey it didnt rain the whole day if I remember rightly, but we had alot of rain the day and night before, and the week before that we had a storm that flooded everywhere around the west coast of the north island. So AndrewVMX thats why ya cant see any sheep or cows because alot of them got swept out to sea(no joke), it was that bad. But as VMXers we boldly braved the conditions and had a blast.
At the start of practise in the morning there wasnt a blade of grass that had seen a tyre, the track was a virgin ;D.Just think what it is like to ride a virgin track and turn it into what you see in the picture. 8) ;D
-
DJ & Eno, thanks for the great NZ shots you blokes bring forth.
I think we're all envious to see that sort of damp loam and what looks like hundreds of small bats flying out as a roost.
I had the impression you blokes wouldn't know what dust is...
But then I clicked on the 'Livewire' link provided by Eno and scrolled to the bottom - there we see several photos of 'Pig Valley' at Wakefield.
What a dust bowl!
Looks like you have a little piece of Australia right there.
-
C'mon Hoony i would have voted for the first 4 ,but 1 vote only it's not enough. Nice track DJ .
Mate, your place to vote was the last option # 7, that's why i will take a spare red one for ya. see ya thursday ;D ;D
-
Hi from Johns:-
Having been to CD4 at Broadford this year, i don`t really mind where it`s held, as long as there is a CD5!
-
what about a approx date then ;D
-
All will be revealed in the next issue of VMX.... ;)
Which is due out in early Dec. :)
-
I for one hope we can incorporate a sit down meal/dinner with trivia/games etc like at CD3.Maybe a big marque type arrangement-dress regs to include underwear and thongs;(for feet thongs, that is ) ;as a minimum and a Viking feast type atmosphere- bring it on. Maybe a celebrity roast!
-
So Ajay, without giving the time and the place away, what are some of the events going to be at CD5 ???
-
>:(I heard from a very reliable sorce it will be at ramond terrace
-
Raymond Terrace would be fine for me
-
so where are we going for CD5 .Need to book annual leave and the mine has collapse help :-\ :-\
-
Official update: Date and location for CD5 will be notifed in VMX Issue #32, which is due to be mailed out to subscribers early next week. ;)
It should hit the newsagents a week after that. :o
-
Pissa !
-
The mine has COLLAPSE yes am ok hoony thank's for asking :'( :'(
-
Hoony can i sleep in your tent at cd 5 ??? ???
-
OK, VMX Issue #32 is now a reality and it's time to put you all out of your misery.... ;)
Classic Dirt 5 will be held on April 25/26/27 at Barleigh Ranch, Raymond Terrace, NSW. 8)
For those that don't know, Raymond Terrace has a new leasee who is putting a great deal of time and money into the facility and if you haven't been there recently, you would be very pleasantly surprised at how improved the facility and track are already, with more improvements due to be in place prior to the running of CD5.
Included in the improvements will be a complete track resurfacing, which should make it very Vintage bike friendly for CD5.
We also feel that the general layout of the Raymond Terrace facility will be ideal for CD5, as it has a natural ampitheatre in front of the track which will form the focus for activities during the event.
As a lot of people ended up jumping the gun last year and turned up on the Friday, we have decided this year to have a Welcome BBQ on the Friday afternoon, to celebrate the Anzac spirit, so be sure to "bring a mate" to CD5. ;)
Once again, it needs to be said that CD5 would not be possible without the generous support of Suzuki, our major event sponsor.
At this stage, we are still negotiating with our "International Celebrity Guest" for the event. Please visit www.vmxmag.com.au for updates when they become available... ::)

Gator, if you saw my tent at CD4 you would change your mind. :D
it consisted of a "lean to" tarp between my ute and the ground with a swag, i got up early before it really pissed down. ;D
-
Bugger looks like i'm gonna miss it.
Mrs Hoony is due with Number 2 on those exact dates.
Hmmm maybe i can book her in 2 weeks earlier or let that bun over cook.
gotta go, i have tupperware, flowers, shoes & chocolates (and other sheila items) to buy and some serious sucking up to do, its not gonna be pretty. ;D
-
I could help you with the Tupperware, shoes and flowers..... :-X I don't know Gator. I may just bring Derek.
-
NO Dogs prohibited on site at cd5
-
He's a registered dog for the disabled.
-
I have a speech impediment.......
-
Would that be Tourette's Syndrome 414 ? Also, is it true that your dog used to be called Blacksmith, cos when you chastised it, it would make a spring for your balls ? ;D
-
Good one , I love it

Gee Hoony, what have you been up to... ::)
Sounds like you had to earn some brownie points about 3 months AFTER CD4 as well.... ;)
Best solution: Have Baby on the 23rd, she'll be in Hospital for the weekend, you'll be able to come out and play... ;D
-
Yeah good idea. i'll take that as an order then Ajayster.
-
hoony youve got a ambulance sub bring her with you ,if she goes into labour ring them and they will land the helicoptor too take mrs hooney to the hospital
if not the headlines on the next vmx mag will be hooney delivers at cd5
-
Nice one Paul, even Mrs Hoony Laughed at that. :D :D :D :D
-
actually my sister a mid wife you can ring from there for instrustions make sure you charge you phone you dont want a drop out half way through ;D
-
How cool. Being born at an MX track! The special guest ex World Champ could be God-Father and the rest of us could be Uncles (and Aunties). I think your wife owes it to this child to be there!
-
yep i think we are on to something here hoony the organizers will need to build a potable child minding center (uncle firkos junior club kevlar )
-
No problem with the kiddies at Kamp Kevlar. Slip 'em a Margarita or two early on and they'll sleep through the whole shebang. If they wake up, serve 'em up another one. Too easy, $100 per kid per day. Parents must supply their own Tequila.
Mums get a free gynecological examination..... Klub Kevlar Kiddie Kamp.
