Just picked this up today but I'm not sure what I should do with it.
I'm a bit of an XT/TT500 novice, most of my time has been with Suzuki Rm's and PE's and a dabble with Honda XL's.
Any suggestions?

Thats nasty MX250, It's Guy Fox night on the 5th November....... you could blow it up Pete :o ;)
-
sell it to me i love them need a doner for a project
or keep it and race it
-
That was my thought jimg1au. It'll give me another VMX class or what about Vinduro.. there's a thought.
-
Now Davey Crocket, that's not nice, your reply initially passed me by but after I had time to soak it up I thought, "blow it up"... pleasssse, I wouldn't say that about any of your projects. Hows the 125A motor going?
-
Boat Anchor ;) ;D.
Just kidding PMC - it looks very original so why not a resto for the street?
-
I have one the same, bit rough around the edges but reasonbaly good unmolested condition.
I bought it to use the motor & gold rims on my HL but couldn't bring myself to wreck it, now have another motor for the HL.
It has a noisy motor so needs a rebuild, then I might get it rego'd.
It's on my bucket list to rego & ride it to the TT muster.
The bucket will probably get me before I get round to it ::)

Pete, the conrod kits finally turned up from the States, heads have been machined for the flat-top pistons, just waiting to get the barrells back and the rebuilt cranks then it's " Thunderbirds are go ". I'll give you a ring when I'm ready to assemble so you can check out the " works" motors ;D. Hey Pete, you can give the bike to Eddie to put his Golf club collection in!!!!, in his new Golf shed. :D ::)

You can cut and shut the chassis, shove on a PE250/400 swingarm and get the correct fork yolks combo to make it handle. The info is all on this forum.
-
Now that's sounding more the go. Give me a guide where to find this info.

BRENT J
he is the man for xt/tt500s
-
pe250's and 400's need swingarms too but that is a nice bike all the magazines I have read on them all rated them quite highly thanks, Michael.
-
radian yamaha swing arms fit as well but they are not alloy.this increases your arm by about 2 in.being steel you can weld the shock mounts were you like.a lot of dirttrackers in the usa use these on the raked xt/tt/sr frames.plunty of stuff around to make them go fast.1st thing is to make sure you have the large inlet valve off the sr500 or post 80 500s.i read in vmx mag some guys in england make them wet sump as well.
tip
chain crankcase guard around sprocket.if you through a chain at full speed it can do some damage to the infeed oil line.and of course to the crankcase
-
The way the prices on these things are going, it may well be worth restoring. Then find a bitza to turn into a race bike.
-
that could be the way to go since you only use the frame/motor/wheels and every thing else get replaced with parts from other brands of bikes or aftermarket parts
radian yamaha swingarms??what model is that??
-
well i dont see any yellow on it .but we can fix that pete.and no electric start shit ouchie wa wa.
-
there was mint one on ebay for 12 grand, don't smash up all the sought after bits like the instruments and exhaust ..... I think they are a pile but they have fanatical following in UEPs and the Poms, I would sell it on, OR chop it.
