A Montesa chopper :o.
Is it my eyes, an optical illusion or is this short end raked out (bent forks?).
-
looks like a top weekend ,plenty of big bores there . Was the Crabman there ?.
-
That's one hell of a track..looks pretty technical. The low tech stainless steel BBQ has me intrigued, you've gotta love a BBQ involving real wood! Is that Gavin Crabmans 490 Maico #171?
-
Great to see some VMX happening in SA! ;D
-
Firko - standard joke here on site between us and the Safies is the the BBQ/braai - we claim they wouldn't know a good BBQ if it bit them on the a...! They reckon it can't be good to use gas etc etc etc. Also The Safies only use the grill - no flat plates - makes the tri nations more interesting anyway!
-
Crikey-looks alot like Qld. 'spose we could all use some rain.

Cool looking track Dave, the big bores certainly loved the brow of the hill ;D
Thanks for sharing your photos.

Thanks for the sneak preview Gareth Ireland's riding ability. 8) Gareth will be visiting our West Australian Shores in August 2010 and I'm sure the good old braai/BBQ's will also be fired up ;D

They will all just feel @ home to sit around the barrel with a nice burning piece of wood? ;)
-
yep there's enough springbok jumpers to keep them warm. they tend to appear when the Super 14 and tri nations is on.
-
An ex Cape Town enduro rider's just moved to Brissy.
Half of Lucas Heights is South African.
-
and half of the western suburbs of Brissy
-
Couldn't beat the aussies at cricket so we joined you ;D
-
The cricket is like watching grass grow-at least the rugby gives us some common ground- SA Aus and NZ Just like VMX-just need to get some sidecar cross in each country to get some real comraderie happening.
-
No sidecar MX in SA. Isn't now and never has been.

Welcome VMXSA171,
These guys wont tell you the truth that they really cook with gas.Cause the missus(wife) doesn't like the wood smoke, and there is no one to chop the wood either these days ;) :o :D :-X
Good news that you are heading over and I'm sure you will be well looked after, be it by the BBQ or with bike preparations. 8)
Now we just have to get a few A Graders from the east to come over for a challenge. ;D
cheers West Oz

Hold on, would not knock the BBQ. It is a sacred place of secret mens business. We'll have to put the Boks through a secret initiation ceremony (BYO grog) so they can stand in the circle of silence. Either that or they can sit with the women and talk knitting. I am so going to die when Christine reads this!!lol
-
AHHH---- The circle of silence-long after the meal has settled in the belly and there's still plenty of beer in the esky-silent we stand-thinking of something clever to say to the other druken circle standers-dreaming of fast left hander sweepers with a small soft berm on the out side-having found the right gear to promote the right ammount of grip-----going all moist just thinking about it(at the eyes that is)
-
See only real men understand, gone moist myself, it's the roost in my eyes that's causing, honest!!lol
-
Dreamers don't get roost in their eyes ya dagg-they're out in front!!
-

:D :D Glad you where not around the BBQ ,some one may have thumped him one :D
-

You don't understand, me getting the roost from someone is a dream, never get that close!!lol
It's a man thing Alison, especially round a BBQ. remember your female and never understand!!lol just as we never understand the ladies, then again don't want to!!lol
Women, can't live with them, and no there is no second line!!!

Haha i can see this is going to be interesting. yeah the braai or BBQ is sacred and you can be the best on the track the braai /BBQ master is still king. Checkout this link for an insite to Saffer Braai politics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq2SOmwzjUU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq2SOmwzjUU)

We are no fork-proders either :D ;D

Thanks Spicydave for the great images.
SA does look a lot like Queensland, even the bikes look like the ones here.
The track what can anyone say, Da Nations quality.
I guess VMX is the same the world over.
Ji
-
Yes, very bent.
That bike was originally a King Scorpion. Forks were dreadful - would bend in the slightest tumble.
For those of you who weren't there, the weekend was brilliant. Great riding racing and socialising.
I can imagine that the Aussie VMX scene is very similar.
Regards
David
